Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questions.

I got my 1986 moped running, it seems to be pretty loud, it smokes alot, is it better to smoke alot then a little? maybe my oil isnt a smokeless formula, why is it smoking so much? what are the possible causes, i reaplaced the cylinder, piston, rings, gaskets and some other stuff, but shestill smokes like heck, can this do with timing?

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

You may have installed the rings improperly. Where does the loud noise come from? Near the engine or back at the tail end of the muffler?

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

well, the muffler is a little bent up near the exhaust bolt, i think air is leaking through there.

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

I guess you just got it running. Sometimes a muffler is full of old oil and junk from whoever had the bike previously.. maybe it was running bad for a long time and oil collected in the muffler.

Smoke is mostly burning oil. That muffler could be full of old oil and it has yet to burn it all out. First get the muffler hot enough to burn it out.. a hour's ride should do it. If it's still smoking as much as ever, then you might be using too much oil.

Smokeless oil in not really smokeless. But even 'normal' oil will not smoke tons unless you use too much.

The most you should see is a faint blue haze trailing a few feet behind the bike. With just enough smokeless oil you might only see that blue haze near the pipe while you are stopped and idling.

But if the bike needs a tuneup, thats a whole other story. First get it running perfectly and then determine if it's smoking too much.

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

You need to get a good seal where the headpipe meets the exhaust port. Take the muffler off and inspect the area around the exhaust port. Make sure you have both bolts to secure the pipe and use a new copper clad gasket when you install the muffler. It is designed to crush and form a good tight seal as long as the surfaces are clean and flat. You might also check for any cracks in the pipe itself.

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

I checked out your ad. I think you are a bit overpriced. Missing mirrors, etc and needing to change out the tires?? Go ahead and swap the tires, an hour at the most and one less thing wrong to mention. Good luck but be ready to drop you price, 2000 and up honda elites are in my paper all the time for a grand or less.

Re: Got my Suzuki Fa50 running, i have some questi

ill dropped price to 420
