HELP MY FA50 WONT START BUT I FOLOWed FREDS GUIDE!

OK,my suzuki fa50 has fresh gas, fresh oil, 90lbs of compression with i dont know if is good or bad......i have a purple spark on the spark plug....i recently cleaned out the carburetar.....so why wont it start? i put the choke on when i try and start it, sometime without... but i dont even get a "pop" oir anything.... what am i missing? why wont it start?

i recently had a situation with the piston getting stuck and it left a scrape in the cylinder, around halfway in......but i smoothed it out and i get 90lbs of compresion... i never measure it without the scratch... but i think 90 is enough....so if there is gas...and there is spark, and there is compression.. freedmust have been wrong when he said the motor has no choice in the motor not havinga choice to run....what can i do to get this thing started? ive tried with some gas in the sparkplug hole... but no luck.....it doesnt even "pop" or run for a sec. but i have a spark...why wont this thing work?

90 is way low. I don't know what FA-50's typically run, but all of my bikes (Puchs and Sachs) run in the 140s.

There's a cylinder and piston for sale on ebay right now. I'd get it if I were you. Item #4501580728

Is it a new plug?

a pug may fire outside the cylinder, but not inside. Timing?

90 psi is low, but it still should fire

Re: HELP MY FA50 WONT START BUT I FOLOWed FREDS GU

The 86 FA50 I got going for my kids only shows 80PSI when I check it with my AUTOMOTIVE SCREW IN type compression gauge.

I also checked a Honda Elite, lawn mower etc, None of them read over 100. When I checked my truck it has 180. My FA50 runs great, starts on the 1st kick, plenty of power for my 120lb kid so my guess is compression gauges must differ somewhat.

Try taking the muffler off and try to start it. If the muffler is restricted it can't suck in hard enough on the intake side.

Also you could have a timing issue .

Keep at it, just remember to walk away when you get upset and come back with a clear head. I know from personal experience this helps a lot!!!!!

Re: HELP MY FA50 WONT START BUT I FOLOWed FREDS GU

mufflers off, air filters off....it was running before the piston got stuck.......im measuring mine with a automotive pressure gauge....,could it be the fuel and idle screws? does anybody know about that on the fa50?......it may be compression...cause before the incident with the piston getting stuck in the cylinder....i do have another cylinder on the way.... there are to scratches about 2 1/2 inches long on each side of the cylinder from the back to the front....so do you think the cylinder is the problem? even if i have a good spark, i dont think it will even fire that spoonful of gas i put under the spark-plug hole...., sp which is it.... the spark-plug,fuel and idle screws, or the scraped cylinder?

help?!

I'll go with the obvious thing, the cylinder. 90 PSI is way too low, and since you know there's damage to the bore, don't worry about the other things until you've got the cylinder/compression problem fixed.

Re: HELP MY FA50 WONT START BUT I FOLOWed FREDS GU

shouldnt it atleast ignite the spoonfull of gas in the cylinder?

Re: HELP MY FA50 WONT START BUT I FOLOWed FREDS GU

The compression is what causes the suction to pull a proper air/fuel charge into the engine and swirl it around enough to ignite. You are beating a dead(dying) horse with that bad cylinder. There may be other issues too, but you need to start with a sound foundation and that's what a good piston/cylinder is.
