Tomos A3 Reed Valve?

Does the Tomos A3 have a reed valve?

What is the correct way to install it on the bike? I was helping a local guy work on an '94 Tomos with what I believe is a reed valve. We cleaned the carb, and replaced a gasket between in the Valve and the intake manifold. It would fire once or twice out of 30 kicks. The spark is good and strong. It has good compression. What are the signs of a bad or defective reed valve?

Thanks,

Fred

Actually it could be the a35.

neither the a3 or the a3n had reed valves. nor did the early versions of the a35. if the carb is mounted up under the frame, where you have to drop the engine to get to it, it shouldnt have a reed valve. i dont think the later versions of the a35 came out til 96. but i could be wrong.

i think it was in 1990 the a35 was introduced.

Re: Tomos A3 Reed Valve?

you do not atually have to drop the engine. you get the hang of it after a couple hundred times. haha
