Removing Maxi exhaust baffle

Is there some trick to removing the exhaust baffle from the main tube of a Maxi exhaust? I removed the nut, the tube and the small diameter tube that inserts into the baffle, but I don't seem a way to loosen the baffle itself. There's lots of soot in there - could it be frozen in place?

Thanks,

Dave

Take a broom handle and insert it through the front of the muffler. Then, pop the broom handle on the ground and the baffle willcome right out the back end.

Re: Removing Maxi exhaust baffle

mine does not come out cuz the outer pipe is bent towards the middle

its been that way when i got it so i wasnever able to clean it well

I heard guys saying heat it with a torch, my guess is blow the flame in the small end and cook her well. Than tap the big end on the floor...

Re: Removing Maxi exhaust baffle

i loosend both my nuts and mine wouldnt come out

well i rode around not knowing i didnt put the nuts back and then eventually the heat and vibration made it come right out.

Re: Removing Maxi exhaust baffle

dont do that on a maxi pipe! i did.. and partially melted the end of the baffle...

Unless the pipe is crushed, a broom handle will pop it out everytime.
