Backfiring Kinetic

Ok so I have a a Malossi 70 cc kit on my Kinetic. It has started backfiring today. Kit has already been broken in. Any ideas?

Re: Backfiring Kinetic

Exhaust plugged with carbon?

Re: Backfiring Kinetic

A backfire is more technically a mis-fire, or sparking at the wrong time. Check your spark plug, check your points and timing.

Ok come and help.

Re: Backfiring Kinetic

There's always the vespa ciao repair manual:

Not 100% applicable, but some good stuff.

Re: Backfiring Kinetic

In addition to improper ignition timing, backfiring can also be caused by too lean a fuel mixture, and if your carb is the same as it was before you put the 70cc kit on, then you definitely need to up-jet. I would knock it up five points on the main, and come down until it runs proper. Malossi typically includes this information in a little packet when you buy one of their kits, and they usually post that info on Malossi.com

Cheers,

Josh
