ok now I can tell my story. where to start. oh yeah. There once was an idiot. his username on moped army was reluctant_sinecure.

so here is how the deed went down, so to speak. Aren't you just quivering with anticipation?

First of all, let me say that I lied. I will not apologise for this. The only reason I did it was so I wouldn't have to tell this story which nobody will read anyway.

The lie I told you all was that the moped I was working on, and fixed successfully on the first try with no experience with either carbuerators or small engines, with just my wits, (I know its not hard to troubleshoot a moped, but the people who it REALLY belonged to had done nothing but neglect it, just like they do everything they own, and would NEVER have been able to get it running, despite even their best efforts)belonged to me.

It was not my moped, never was, never will be.

Since I knew they had the ped, and would NEVER fix it, I had been after them to just give it up. I mean what good is a moped that doesnt run and just collects dust and rust, right?

I think any reasonable person would agree.

So this past friday these "people" called me and asked me to hook up their internet, which I have become adept at. I, being the humbly generous person I am, agreed to come over. I even turned down the money they offered to pay me for hooking it up. And it's not like I'm super tight with these people, to be honest their shit kind of wierds me out. <----1st mistake!!!

So after I hooked up their net service late friday, I convinced them to let me throw the bike into the back of my moms staion wagon to see if i could get it going, with the agreement that i would bring it back over the weekend and we could talk about it.........

Let me give you some background on the bike.

These people, and I will refer to them in this way to save their pathetic asses further embarassment than they cause themselves just by being who they are, bought the bike from a friend of the girl's (they are a married couple with a kid) parents for 1 cent. thats right, one copper penny. And how did they show their gratitude? By dumping the bike in the garage next to the broken down car that also is stored there. As well as is the RIDING MOWER, which because it got a flat tire, these people hired a landscaping service. their lawn is not really even big enough to necessitate a riding mower, or a landscaping service, but hopefully this will give you some idea of just how helpless, spoiled and dependent on other people these folks seem content to be.

So anyway, they told me more than once that the reason they would not sell the bike is because the guy who sold it to them (the above mentioned 'rent's friend) had admonished them that if they were going to give the bike away, not to take it from him in the first place. And I could tell the guy took care of his shit. whoever had it loved that ped. This was the only reason they would verbally tell me. The thing that underlies this, is that these people are totally dependent finacially on the girl's parents, because these two helpless children (who are older than me) made a baby. And as far as I could gather, they would rather have neglected the moped forever (had I not fixed it) rather than risk having to stand on their own two feet after mommy and daddy (ponentially) would cut them off because they disobeyed ONE OF THE GIRL"S PARENTS' FRIENDS BY SELLING ME A MOPED THEY HAD NO INTENTION OF FIXING. This is the same girl, who before she got pregnant, swore she was poor, yet had her own three bedroom apartment by the lake, and NO JOB. She would be like, yeah i'm down with you guys(typical rich kid shit), when she is in fact richer than most of my friends combined. Lame.

But, alas I set myself up for this. I never should have fixed it. I took the bike against my better judgement. These people are FLAKY With a big old capital f.

After I fixed it, I never should have taken it back, and I never would have, but they still had the title. They probably would have given me the bike had i waited long enough, but I have a compulsion to fix stuff that i can ride. Sorry. SUe me.

But of course when I took it back, they wouldnt part with it. they said something like yeah you can use it sometime if you want. Totally ungrateful. I guess I hooked it up to show them that I should have it, but I should have known it would never work.

I spent about ten bucks in gas, oil, and misc shit to get it running good. and about 14 hrs of work(remember i'm a beginner =). They gave me twenty bucks. TOTAL. thats all I got out of it.

In previous posts I desribed how I troubleshot and what I did to repair this moped. What would you have to pay to have that done at a scooter shop? I bet it would be more than twenty bucks. Remember, I am not close with these folks.

So because you folks have been so nice, and so immensely helpful, I have decided to turn my loss into your gain. The twenty is earmarked for donation to whoever pays to maintain this site.

I guess this whole thing has taught me that I should see things for what they are, not what I hope will be the outcome. I knew these people would greedily put the moped back into storage and proceed to start neglecting it again as soon as I rode up on it. but I took it upon myself to fix it anyway. I hoped it would work out that I would keep the bike, but knew deep down it wouldn't. Why do I do shit like this? You guess is as good as mine.

Anyway, please confirm where to send donations. Respect.

Oh and i put on a fuel filter. I couldn't find the briggs and stratton one at wally world, but they did have about 25,000 diferent kinds of that weedwhacker plastic string stuff. Fuck them anyway.

I used another kind that I got at autozone. it did not come with hose, but it wan onlt two bucks. Worked great. I could feel better pickup almost immediately after cleaning the fuel line and installing the filter. it was clear so you could see all the filth geting trapped inside. pretty cool.

It was a Maxpower Precision Parts brand 1/4" in-line fuel filter, part #4283.

Hope you liked my story, maybe Ill see you all again if I get another ped. Im sorry, if I ever get one. I feel like I desrve one.

one consolation is that the guy(who weighs like 200+) will definitely burn up that thing with the quickness, and when he calls me to help him fix it, i'll be nowhere to be found.

I will check back though to see where to send donations.

Thanks agin for all your GENEROUS help. I will not soon forget it.

CHUCH!!!!!!
