'77 Garelli Doesn't Catch

Renee Jenkins /

I've got a '77 Garelli Eureka Flex that won't catch. If you've got a steep enough hill to roll down and you squeeze the clutch, it catches about 95% of the time. However, if you're peddling on a flat surface, it'll only catch about 15% of the time. Any suggestions?

hmmmm 15%, if it were 12% id say... kidding. get a new plug and new gas, and clean the carb.-jason

Re: '77 Garelli Doesn't Catch

tighten up the clutch cable

Re: '77 Garelli Doesn't Catch

Renee, you have to pedal pretty hard. The steep hill is the equivalent of pedaling REALLY fast. IF you are a light person, just put the moped on its stand and pedal like crazy, pulling the clutch. You ARE using the choke when cold, right? don-ohio (:^D

Yup, using the choke! The last time this 'ped was tuned was about 10 years ago, so it does need a major overhaul.

there are two different things going on here.

Are you having trouble with the engine running after it is spinning well or are you having trouble getting the engine to spin at all when you pull in on the clutch cable? Thanks, Leon
