Cleaning out a crankcase

So I have a couple of engines that I've taken the cylinders off of. I see a little dirt and stuff around the intake and inside of the crankcase. Without splitting the crankcase, what's the best way to get the dirt out? Is there a way I can safely fill it with soap water or something, shake it up, rinse, then blow dry it and lube it with two-stroke oil afterward?

Kerosine.

Re: Cleaning out a crankcase

Alright, thanks! I assume that will clean the oil out too, and I'll need to kinda swish some 2-stroke around in there? Well maybe not essential, but a good idea I would think.
