RE: Tire size 17 X 2.5, rubbing against Newport

Hey guys,

I got 17 X 2.5 tires and I'm putting them back on the rear of the Puch Newport. They're Sava B6 or something. I can't get the tire to turn smoothly. I ratcheted the tire almost all the way back, tightened the lugs, and it's rubbing against the frame. I need some help to try to avoid this.

Thanks in advance,

John

If I'm not mistaken, Newports came stock with 17 X 2.0 tires. A 17 X 2.5 tire may be too wide for that rear end. I think 17 X 2.25 is just about the limit on Newports.

RE: Tire size 17 X 2.5, rubbing against Newport

I just got these tires from Mr. Moped, and I'm hoping to be able to adapt the rear frame to fit these big a$$ tires. I'm hoping someone knows some slick trick just to get it to work. I know the tire I took off was a 17 X 2.25. I ordered the wrong part number and ended up with 17 X 2.5.

Anyone else have any good ideas?

John

I have put 2.5 tires on mine...but they were Cheng Shins and there was very little clearance. These might be just-a-bit over the limiit.
