Sachs question

i have a KTM 1978 with a Sachs engine, i need to adjust the points but i cant get the cover plate off. there is a sort of tab on the top and bott of of the circular plate. does anyone know how to get it off?

Here's what i did: take a long flat-head screwdriver and sorta pry it in the top of the notch. Now hit the handle of the screwdriver with a hammer until the cover pops off. There ya go.

Sometimes, if you got something to pry against, the claw end of a hammer will get it just right- use a piece of wood against the frame or any other parts to keep form damaging them.

There is a pry spot on the top and bottom- use them both.

ANd if you damage them don't worry I have a NOS part for you ;-)

Lay down on opposite side of the ped and attack it from underneath with large screwdriver (use hammer ) better use piece of wood.
