Motori engine wires

Tony Stanback /

I have three wires coming off the engine. (red, blue, black)

I have a connector that has three wires connected to it already. (blue, red, yellow) Can someone tell me which wires from the engine connects to the connector. Do I match the colors together ?

Please Help this is a project that I'm working with my son.

Thanks

Re: Motori engine wires

Minarelli engine going onto what bike? The minarelli blue is usually the lighting power. The red is ignition and splits to go to the kill switch, and also the Ignition coil. The black is a ground wire. This can be wrong, though, varying by manufacturer. don-ohio

This engine is on a gadabout bike. I was told the blue was ignition.

Re: Motori engine wires

Gadabout has a Minarelli. Alhtough I think they use different color wires than some of the others. I know my Concord with a Minarelli has different wires, and I think my Testi, different than the Gadabout. Gadabouts are nice bikes though and they're from my hometown. They're were given away with Holiday Rambler RVs back in the day. I live in the "RV Capital of the World" so we see a lot in Elkhart.

Is there a way I can hook up the wires directly from the engine to the coil? so iI can test the motor to see it will run>

Re: Motori engine wires

yes. First pull the plug, reattach the sparkplug wire, and ground the plug's base to the engine with a spring clamp. (so you can watch for spark)

Connect the condenser wire directly to an ignition coil wire..(one of the wires coming out of the engine) This bypasses all the switches and wires on the bike's frame..

i have no idea where your condenser is or what wire colors are appropriate in your case. Yyou will get a spark or nothing at all will happen. Try all wire combinations. If you see spark, put the plug back in an fire it up.
