no spark

Mike Kondracki /

My 1980 Sachs has no spark. The tail light also lights up when I pedal, is this normal? Any suggestions on the problem? Everything looks to be in working order. It is my first moped, so any help will be appreciated.

Re: no spark

Also, replace the spark plug at the first hint of spark trouble. Clean and gap the points to .016" inches, not mms. Make sure kill switch(on-off) isn't grounding the ignition wire that comes off the magneto. don-ohio

tried everything but still no spark. my cousin thinks its my coil, how do i test that? which wire is my ignition wire from the magneto?

Re: no spark

probably not the coil... Does it have a condenser? I have seen these many times go out.

Re: no spark

Disconnect your kill switch wire from engine side first and check for spark.

Check points if they open and clean.
