QT50 WILL NOT START?

Luke Luttrell /

I recently inherited a qt50 from a relative.

I have been playing around with it... because it is beat up... and I am having problems. I have a good understanding of cars but have never toyed with a moped.

When I go to kick start it.... It acts like it wants to go... but nothing seems to catch.

I have a spark from the spark plug (lights fade on and off when I kick start it). The fuel/oil mix looks good and all the hoses are connectedgood up to the carburetor.

I believe it could be a problem with the air intake. Do I need a good vacuum where the black case below the seat connects with the carburetor?

Thanks for any help

Re: QT50 WILL NOT START?

Do you have battery?

QT50 is using it to help you with starting (you have your "start" position on the handle bar).

Take off your muffler, many of the those little scoots have clogged exhaust and it will not start because of the back pressure, very common problem.

Is the spark plug oily whey you kick it?

If yes get rid of oil injector (mix you own fuel) because it is faulting your plug .

Pour some gas straight into spark plug hole, put new spark plug and try.

Follow Fred's guide in resources.

Fresh gas and new plug, for sure. Then do what Ziggy says!
