Petcock, fuel flow problems

1977 Sparta Buddy.

Fuel leaks out of the top of my fuel-line where it attaches to the petcock. It is not leaking from the petcock, but up and out of the fuel line when the engine is not running? Any suggestions?

Also, if I put on a fuel filter the gas will not flow through it. I can hang the hose from the petcock and the fuel will not flow. Take if off and fuel gushes out? And also if there is any kind of bend in the fuel line, it will not flow to the carb? I have to make it as straight as possible.

Do I need to poke a hole in the tank cap?

Thanks,

Fred

Buy new fuel line the right size for the barbs. You can get clips for the lines at cycle shops, and you need to prime the line to eliminate the air bubble in the system. Have you got the filter up side down? JJ

Re: Petcock, fuel flow problems

I had put clips on and it still leaked out the top. I used 3/16 line from the auto store, it fit pretty snug on the barbs. The filter was on correctly, I made sure to double check. Yet, nothing flowing through.

What would you suggest to prime the line?

Thanks,

Fred

Re: Petcock, fuel flow problems

It has an arrow that says "Flow" in it.
