Morini M01 engine

Nick Sullivan /

Hello,

I have a Morini M02 engine and would like to replace it with an M01. Looking for something complete as far as all internals, including clutch, stator, flywheel, all covers, and non seized. Mainly just the bottom end is what I’m interested in. I have a kit for it already. Let me know if you have what I need, or at least close to it.

Also if you’re interested in the M02 we could possibly do a trade scenario.

Thanks

M1 wont bolt up to an MO2 or MO1 moped frame. Completely different motors. (edited)

Ahhhhh the m01/m02/m1 all use the same mounts, the m101 uses unique mounts

Appreciate it, but won’t work with my Polini kit

Actually, this is half right. The MO1 / 2 bottom mount is narrower. So on older frames that use them you wouldn't be able to mount an M1 without moding the mount. You can mount an MO1 / 2 to an M1 frame but would need spacers for the bottom mount. And yes the M101 is a longer engine so it won't match up. :D

I must have worked only on older frames, because I’ve never been able to transplant an M1 on a M01/M02 frame without mods to the lower mount.

Maybe its the new m1's, like the post 85's? Ive swapped my 78 Polini M1 to a few frames with no issues, or maybe I just got lucky!

Either way lets get this guy an M01!

Re: Morini M01 engine

I have an m01, with a13t sprocket. The conrod bearings feel really tight and the gear teeth look good. Good starter clutch. The clutch looks like it was abused with a punch or something but it works and has plenty of material on it. The ignition coil on the stator is corroded, it makes spark but needs replaced. Cylinder looks OK but there is no piston.

How is your m02? I could use a spare if it's decent. You can keep your stator if it's in better shape than mine.
