For sale 1980 Honda Hobbit 542 actual miles excellent condition . All plastics good. Runs great. Sorry I don't text 2000.00 OBO 720-256-8626 Colorado
Now we are talking decent price. I might start listing some of my precious.
$2,000 for a slow 20mph version PA moped ha ha ha ha ha that’s $100 a mph!
Your old and a newbie so you may not understand that no one is gonna pay $ 2,000 for a slow PA 1 even if it is nice.
You won’t get nowhere near that price if it was the faster 30 mph version PA II either. To convert it to a PA II is not easy! You need to swap engine from a PA II or redo the whole thing, Wow that’s a lot of work!
https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Honda_PA_Model_Differences
As it sits it’s $500-600 bike. You may get more money if the person didn’t know it’s the slow version because not as many PA 1’s that are are Yellow, most times they are red or red white.
If converted to PA II it would be worth more money but now where near $2,000
Looks like a Pa50II to me.
Thank You. I may be a newby, but I checed the factory VIN and model # before posting. As for the previous post-I can't stand a know-it-all.
While I don’t agree with your pricing, I also don’t care for know-it-alls. Good luck with your sale!

I bought a nice running PA-50I for $400 a couple of months ago, and I don't haggle at all.
A pristine PA-50II might fetch $600 around here. I'm not sure what prices are like in Colorado, $2k is awfully darn high for any common moped like this, even in good condition.

Yeah the dude was wrong about it being a pa50i, but your pricing is asinine. I sold an identical bike in similar condition for $600 only two months ago. And that one had brand new tires and an upgraded exhaust...
Not trying to be a know it all !
you said it was a PA not a PA II
I thought it might be a PA II but because I don’t know what version I saw painted yellow locally that only did low 20s mph
I saw pa’s in green and blue that were painted professionally that people said were stock so who knows.
No matter though.
A $2000 for a stock common moped is nuts even if it is the 30 mph version,
Most people won’t be happy with 30 mph anyway and stick a ton of money to make it go faster!
The past year motor vehicles only went up 20 to 25%, not three times their worth,
Sucks that because of people who want to charge 2-3 times the price for a moped because they got ripped off in the first place complained to KBB and nada and had mopeds removed from their list so sellers could continue rip people off,
I don’t know why this happened but those lists used to be something that kept the prices of the cheapest and lowest form of motor transportation in check!
I hope all you High priced suckers pay $5,000-10,000 for a stock moped while I’m set for the bikes I have and the local people I deal with that aren’t greedy nuts.
I practice what I preach
I sold both of these mopeds together recently locally for $1,550 when I could’ve got a grand more for the pair!
The Tomos LX was in like new condition low mi and The magnum was rebuilt and complete
they both went over 40 mph reliably!

Yo my guys. Seriously. I hope he does sell his clean moped.
Like P.T said there is a sucker born every minute and a fool and his money will part ways.
If you are not buying it or negotiating a price you should leave his post alone.
You are the type of guys who would buy a moped from a old person for $50 and try to sell it to someone else for $500 or have a part that someone else needs and sell it for $50 that you got for free.
Times are changing cost of things are changing it’s called inflation.
I have had legit offers of $1500 for mine while riding around San Jose 2 years ago.
Our mopeds are starting to become a little harder to find and they are 40 plus years old. So they are becoming a novelty. Also the average joe knows the Honda brand.
Side note:
The new cheap transportation now is ebikes and electric scooters. So be happy if the price goes up.
All this bitching over his asking price is exactly why I recently posted and even included Simon in this. This is why people don't try to sell things on Moped Army and they go to Facebook or they go to eBay because you've got all these smartie pants that want to keep the price as low as possible so they can buy them all for themselves. I really do hope Simon sets up a way that you can post something for sale and p.m. if you're interested and comments can be limited. These are the same people who are the hoarders. I'm sure someone who wants this pristine bike is going to pm the seller with a reasonable offer and that will be that but how can you possibly bring yourself to do it when all these naysayers are going blah blah blah blah blah blah blah I only paid a couple dollars for it I paid $10 I paid $200 I paid $400 how dare you ask for this much money but then of course they want to buy it for nothing.

That's true, but Moped Army is a community, and we look out for one another. Part of that is calling out bad actors who want exorbitant prices for their thoroughly common bikes.

Incorrect.

Incorrect. I only sell mopeds and parts at cost, at most. I'm more likely to just give things away.

Greed never changes.

If you think that's why we call out people who try to jack up prices you just don't understand the moped community. Consider for a moment that some people prioritize people over profits. Selling a stock common bike for $2k is just going to keep cool people out of our hobby. If that becomes the norm, it'll just be yet another hobby dominated by boring old rich white dudes. Fuck that.

There's ebay and facebook for that sort of nonsense.
If you're only into mopeds to make a quick buck and rip people off, you can go fuck yourself. This website and the general community are built upon generosity and giving back whenever possible. Making a couple hundred bucks on a bike that you get running, replace the tires, cables, etc. on is one thing. Selling bikes for seriously inflated prices when hobbits can still be had all fucking day for less than $500 is predatory and plain stupid. Is this hobbit worth a used Grom? Fuck no.
Why don't I believe you?

You'll have to answer that yourself, but I'd bet it comes down to one thing: greed.
Sorry to tread jack...this will be my last post in it.
Yo B.F....... the air must be real thin high up on that soapbox.....
I think you should practice what you preach....
“That's true, but Moped Army is a community, and we look out for one another. Part of that is calling out bad actors”
I have been on this forum for over 4years and to be honest, I don’t see a lot of helpful people... but have read some helpful old posts from about 10 years ago.
I see more people just voicing their opinion.
“Consider for a moment that some people prioritize people over profits.”
Not to sound like how old I am.... but, it’s called capitalism look at the medical industry...
“Selling a stock common bike for $2k is just going to keep cool people out of our hobby. If that becomes the norm, it'll just be yet another hobby dominated by boring old rich white dudes. Fuck that”
Also, your mind set is all wrong.... The price is not going to keep cool people out of the hobby.... matter fact it will bring more enthusiastic people who will have more passion for it and will weed out the pessimistic people who fell into the hobby by accident.
I have seen this circle before with Vw’s and harleys.

You can't even stop blowing up kits. There are hundreds of posts on tuning and kit installation. There are dozens of posts about the hobbit DR kit. There are hundreds of people (myself included) who've learned almost everything about mopeds through MA. You either need to learn how to use the search functionality or how to read

The medical industry is an evolving and growing industry. Mopeds were literally thrown in the trash by the thousands in the 80s and 90s. We still sometimes find some Hero-Majestics in garbage piles. You don't have the context for why people are saying this because you've never been to a rally, or maybe even a group ride? You don't get that there's something worth keeping intact and not molesting for the sole purpose of quick, insignificant levels of profit.

Stop speaking with authority on the moped community when you don't know anyone in the community or the culture itself. The people riding and fixing mopeds are not the same as people riding Harleys (I worked in a Harley shop for 4 years, Harley riders generally fucking suck) and fixing old VW's. Those things require a good chunk of money. Mopeds don't, which allows for a diverse group of people since the barrier of entry is so low. The Harley and VW communities are a mostly homogeneous, boring ass blob.

Yeah, fuck that shit. You hold up the medical industry as some sort of good thing? It's a fucking nightmare designed to extract profit from human misery.

*Your* mindset is all wrong.
I'd much rather have a dozen cool punks/college kids/whatever than one old rich white dude. The latter doesn't give a fuck about anyone other than himself, while the former are more likely to become an active part of our community, and mopeds being cheap is an absolutely essential part of attracting those cool people.
> I have seen this circle before with Vw’s and harleys.
Those are both awful toxic communities largely populated by awful old rich white dudes. Nobody worth a damn wants mopeds to become like that.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦
Where are the running $500 PAII's at? I would snag one up quickly. There is no way I'm going to be paying $2000 for ANY moped. But people do it often.

Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. (edited)
Right now there are two PA50-II runners LISTED at $750 on FB marketplace (one of them being the more desirable '83 black model), and a few weeks ago I saw one for $400. $500-$600 is pretty typical listing price for a running PA-50-II here.

I sold this running, titled PA50ii with a proma and new tires for $550 earlier this year. It's not like it sold right away either, it took me a week or two to sell it.
Again it's on Facebook because of moped army toxicity.

It's on Facebook because the seller wants someone to pay a high price for it. This is as it should be.

We’re seeing in our area specifically, the folks spiking up the prices (and also the initial folks from the shop selling the bikes to these people at original inflated prices) don’t go on this forum bc they ultimately know they’re trying to get away with the inflation. Furthermore, virtually none of them participate on Moped Army whatsoever, none of them care about the culture as a whole. Seems like it often correlates
But at its core I don’t think MA and the folks on it are being toxic just bc they’re trying to preserve a fair market.
So this is what I want everyone to do as a mental exercise I want you to imagine that you're a dad who you have a 14-year-old boy that suddenly gotten interested in motors and has somehow been watching YouTube on mopeds so he says to his father how old do you think his father is he's like in his thirties so he doesn't know anything about mopeds whatsoever except that he heard something on Good morning America or something. So that's going to start looking on Moped Army and they go to church on Sunday morning or synagogue or something that's a nice guy he wants to help his son find you know a way in an increasingly electronic world and he's like happy that his son is wants to go out the front door. But then dad looks at Moped Army and all these people swearing at each other and all of this recovery type of stuff that's thrown all over a simple buy and sell yeah I guess I instigated this whole thing I I admit it I've been wanting to talk about these subjects for a while because I think that we are definitely chasing a bunch of people off of mopeds.
If boring white bread mr church dad can't handle seeing people swear, he should definitely not be involved in mopeds, LOL. Imagine if someone like that came to a rally. They might find out that people consume intoxicating liquors, and have sex outside the bonds of holy matrimony!
Fuck that guy and the patriarchal nonsense he rode in on.
