So for a poorly running Moped that you had nothing but problems with and still having problems with, still needs tuning, engine rebuild with new seals and missing fenders, covers and parts you want more then double what it’s worth?

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

Carlos Campi /

Wow, That is a big statement there about "nothing but problems".Mr roffman.

Who would not expect to have problem when you buy a neglected moped with over 40 years. It is not a secret that I had some problems, there is a whole thread on the performance page there is nothing to hide. Here is. https://mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?7,4440197

Thankfully there were other fellow member that actually took the time to read my posts and also where kind enough to share their thoughts and help me to sort this out that I was able to correct them. I'm still fine tuning in summer I might have to adjust for the less dense air.

Now I'm under the impression that you did not read my last post. So FYI the moped is running very good is doing 38 Mph on the rich side. That for a 50cc with with the lower engine stock and my setup is think is not bad at all. In fact I think it is on the fast side. I could be wrong. I could maybe push for 40 mph. When I got it, it was doing 18 Mph . But in any case.

I'm sorry that did not knew that there where some self proclaimed authorities on the forum with the liberty to put overprice tags on other peoples post. I would have come to you first. I could have told you that I did not spare on quality parts and I have all the bills of sales, just in parts alone we are talking about $700.

But the most important is that like any other human I could be wrong, here in South Florida the market shows something totally different. (something called "law of supply and demand")

Now do yourself a favor and do some research and try working on your argumentation skills for next time. And very important try not to start the conversation trolling that will also make you lose points and credibility.

Now Just to be clear I'm not coming here to take advantage of anybody. At the end people can always counter offers and negotiate right?

But if somehow my post or my behavior is not to the level of this great forum it would be fine for me if the moderators decide to delete it.

Peace you all. (edited)

Damn you sound butthurt. How do you spend over $700 in parts on an e50 and only have it do 40? I'm by no means defending Roffman cause a lot of the time he doesn't understand regional markets or that prices change and he's stuck in 2005 but if you don't want people trashing your price don't post overpriced stuff on here.

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

I picked up my Swinger 2 two years ago for $125. As I'm a complete moron with engines, I had Rocketman make it turnkey for me. He cleaned and sealed the tank, rebuilt the bottom end, tuned, and timed it. It went 38 mph when I had it running 25 mph several months prior. We later added a Biturbo pipe and kit so I could keep up with the other bikes at Mopitt by getting it to go 42 mph.

The total bill ended up at around $875, so I have $1000 into this Northeast Ohio bike. If I could have done all the labor myself, I probably could have saved $200 - $300. I'm never crazy about missing fenders or chain covers, but that's just me.

So if Carlos' bike were in Northeast Ohio, should it be $400 less? $700 less if you don't place ANY value whatsoever on you labor time? How fast SHOULD it go with that kit? How fast can you get a Puch to go on a $700 budget? On a $1000 budget? The prices on these bikes are probably going to keep going up. Given I was able to get mine real cheap, if I would have had to pay another $400 to begin with, my bike would end up being a $1000 - $1400 bike depending on my mechanical ability and whether I put NO value on my labor.

I appreciate your words Trent. I can see that not all is lost.

I don't believe there are many fellow local member in this forum but in any case. I'm a very approachable and reasonable person so all DM offers will be considered in case there where any.

Best.

I mean, yes? I sell faster and rarer bikes for less, I'm getting ready to sell a pretty nice condition blue Maxi with a kit, Biturbo, 14mm intake/bing, new tires and an Ohio title and I'm thinking of asking $900. It does 45 comfortably.

If I had rebuilt the bottom end and put a new crank in it, then yeah I'd be asking over a grand. But this dude just put a kit, pipe and carb on an e50 and got it going less than 40. Why not just port a stock cylinder at that point?

Here's a guaranteed 45 mph+ (realistically 50+ mph) e50 starter pack for ~$500, and it would take an hour to put together. You can use different reeds/intake/carb/pipe and save like $100 total but I'm not going to spend the time putting that together cause I'm not buying it. https://www.treatland.tv/puch-party-supreme-p/puch-treat-party-supreme.htm

If you're outsourcing labor you're not going to see that money again when you resell the bike, unless you got the bike for free or close to it. (edited)

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

Carlos Campi /

Are we comparing pears with apples here: A Maxi vs a Pinto, Biturbo vs Proma Circuit , 14mm Bing vs 15mm, Fairings vs naked. This can get all very subjective if we start talking also about colors and grades of shades. LOL

Why is the pinto doing 38? maybe because I'm breaking in it and I don't want to be aggressive with my jetting yet. My mix is still rich and my temp 290 and I wanted that way for now, I melted the stock cylinder not doing that again.

Why I did not put a 70 CC kit?

I want to keep thing borderline legal, the next guy can always just drop a 70 cc, a red and crank and get "comfortably" 60MPH. Sure.

Is it ported yes it is ported, and I also refinished the top engine with ceramic paint, added allen bolts, new filters, all new break lines, clutch and throttle lines, BMX handlers with new brake levers and grips, new tail plate and tail light, new petcock, tanked derusted, well bearing repacked, brakes serviced and refinished, front fork serviced, new rear motorcycle springs. Wheels refinished. Black clutch springs w synthetic oil, new pegs and arms... and I can keep going.

So this "Dude" here has a great attention to details and I don't think it is all about speed. In fact I didn't realize this was a speed competition in paper. In any case you won man I'm stepping back. You can get mopeds for dirt in Ohio and you can put a kit together in less that an hour that is great man. Kudos for you and your skills.

I had to pay $350 plus $80 shipping for a beated and rusted pinto with many missing parts. But I did love the line and the tank so I went all in for the bare metal look style. I'll keep tuning it until it get sold and it will get sold. I have no doubts I'm not selling smoke and mirrors. it's a solid build with many good part and has still space for improvements.

Thank you though for the nice people I've meet here and their very helpful interventions. But there is to much envy and hate here for me so done with this tread and this forum. No hard feeling is just this is not for me.

Good luck all and stay safe on the road.

We're not your market, it's as simple as that. Your market is a rich kid who thinks it looks cool and doesn't care about money, not moped enthusiasts

I’m so glad nick mbc is here in the forums to learn us all how it’s done, and insult Ken Roff (his senior and much better builder) at that.

Saying “Butthurt” is what is so 2005, nick. Goddam every for sale post you’re on here trying to convince people your pricing is the best, give it a fucking rest. I’d ignore you but goddam you’re annoying someone needs to call you out for it

Can you read, or are you too busy sucking your own dick? How am I insulting Ken Roff, I'm agreeing with him. If you spent any time on this forum unrelated to stalking posts that I comment on you'd get what I'm talking about.

You're always rambling some crazy shit about "ulterior motives" but calling overpriced bikes overpriced bikes is trying to stop some poor newbie from getting burned, don't see what's wrong with that.

Why don't you contribute to the discussion, what would you pay for this bike? (edited)

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

Some things never change

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

I think it's a cool looking moped that's pretty unique. Wouldn't surprise me if you sold it at a decent price down here in SWFL to some New Yorker who just moved here a month ago or something like that. There's so much money being spent down here and people are always picking up new hobbies. Anyways, best of luck to you!

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

Put it up for 14 on CL or Facebook and you'll probably get it. No one here is going to give you that

Re: 78 Pinto Rat Rod for sale SoFL Miami area

I think the point is that you shouldn't sell shit at that price to the community. Sell it to some dentist on CL for that much but give the MA people a break
