Selling Matching Derbi SL Variant Moped

Picked up two Derbi SL Variants from a couple who kept these in their garage forever. Currently not running. Dad says compression is there, but isn't interested in working on them and wants them out of his garage. $500 each for these hard-to-find classics!

Mopeds are in Long Beach by the 710 freeway and PCH if you want to come by and see them. Please text me at (310)488-0929 with any questions and more pictures. The pictures are without any clean up. We started to clean up the chrome and they look better and better with a little attention.

Thanks for your interest.

Re: Selling Matching Derbi SL Variant Moped

Aahhhhh I'm in Sacramento and missed out on this. Dang who grabbed these?! And who wants to sell me one?!

Re: Selling Matching Derbi SL Variant Moped

Haha, here's what I have spent so far building a sl,cause I couldn't find one: frame 200$, gas tank 100$, gas cap 20$, petcock 25$,wheels 250$, engine (70cc custom) 500$, swingarm 100$, front shocks 250$,rest shocks 100$, muffler 100$, seat 70$,

And here's 2 for 500$ each.

Sometimes I cry here, sometimes I laugh. (edited)

Rich, fyi it's pending pickup (not purchase). pointed a homie that has been hunting for a variant for daaays to this - so fwiw they're ending up in good hands. i believe he already paid and is just figuring out pickup... either driving down or uship/the like... so i think yr outta luck. BUT tyler has a late model flatreeded ds50 a few posts away from this for 600 (world champ motor/swingarm electric start etc)... i'd check in with dos regardless if yr looking.

Re: Selling Matching Derbi SL Variant Moped

Oh wow, I am happy to say that a delightful guy and his girlfriend drove 6 hours from Sacramento to pick them up this morning. Excited that he will get them running and rolling again.

He taught me a lot about mopeds, of which I clearly know nothing. Happy he got a good deal and happy to have found this site.

Re: Selling Matching Derbi SL Variant Moped

Sorry, Rich,

He picked them up this morning!

Probably Fred /

Holy crap 2 1987 derbi sports! man all I have left from one of a 1987 sport is a set of forks and engine,

Like a dummy I got rid of the frame and swingarm because I couldn’t find the wheels controls, speedo dash all the other parts etc. but that was pretty much before Moped army days
