I called the guy at Camping World who is selling it. He said he'd take $1000 for it. It's very clean, low miles.

Worth at least half of that. These may have been among the worst mopeds ever made
Don't tell the guy at Camping World that. He gave $3G in trade for it!

Oof I hope that's a joke cause these things are downright awful. Maybe to an Indian collector or something but these aren't necessarily rare or desirable

No joke!
I bought one nonrunning for 450, sight unseen. OOps. after months I got it working and sold it goin maybe 20 for 350. That guy had it for sale 500 and i saw it again for 800, so I guess value's pretty arbitrary. It was the same model/color and at least same aesthetic condition -except not the mags. those brakes are (or were at least) hard to find.
I kinda love these but it's not super desirable
they are one of my favorite bikes except the motor, which makes them a perfect candidate for an engine swap. goathead Chris as a super awesome a35 swapped Indian that he's just about got on the road, he's just having a little trouble finding brake shoes for it
That guy obviously is an idiot if he really did give a $3k trade-in for that moped. My guess, if he did do it, he more than made it up on the price of the RV he sold the buyer.

Indian mopeds were junk brand new. I bought a new one in my early teens. Best thing I ever did was unload the POS and buy a Pacer SS. Goodluck luck with that Taiwan crap.
general mopeds are "taiwan crap", as are a bunch of other favorites. indians aren't bad, other than that motor.
