Puch Magnum Appraisal -- How much is it worth

Pondering the idea of selling my 1978 Magnum XK, I've seen some sell for $800, I've seen some sell for $2200. I'm from the Chicago area and I'm wondering how much I could get for it. Has lots of aftermarket stuff. IT DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE

Specs:

E50 motor

Adventure CDI version 2

Stuffy crank

70cc treats kit

High- comp head

21mm OKO carb

New rear sprocket

Michelin Gazelle tires

12v lights

Powder coated wheels (6 star)

EBR forks

The picture here is an older picture and does not include everything listed that has been recently installed.

Thanks

most interesting part is the wheels IMO

4-500 bucks maybe maybe since it’s not stock, basically you destroyed it by doing stupid modifications because you knew nothing about stock anything,

Stock unmolested survivors of any vehicle are worth way more, you maybe dumb to that,

My Stock modified 17k+ mi stock bottom end magnum XK farm bike that all lights including brake and tail work with stock ignition work great, unlike yours, mine is completely original, the 49cc stock cylinder, carb and pipe will blow your bike away, being able to go almost across country though I never went that far ,

I think most people Who destroy magnums, because they don’t nothing about tuning stock original parts that were 35 years ahead of their time should get the box of rocks award!

Ken has no idea what he's talking about. He's been posting the same video for 10 years on here. You can probably get $1500 for it being in Chicago

Get a registration/plate through Vermont then wait till spring and put it up on Facebook market place/ craigslist for 1200 or more and see what kind of response you get. Some kid out there might just need to have it. But a realistic price I would think 7-800. If you have all the stock parts 1000 would a fair deal in my eyes. I’ve had cheap bikes take forever to sell and expensive bike sold in hours. Good luck.

Oh wait you're in Illinois so the no title is a problem, get a title through the vermont trick then sell for $1500 to some kid with daddy's money

Did you convert the axels on the wheels at least?

Re: Puch Magnum Appraisal -- How much is it worth

I like ken’s appraisal

Theres $400 between the wheels, tank, and seat alone. Thats not a fair assessment. I see $800+ worth of parts alone, likely more.

Yeah, $400-500 for a magnum in 2020 is whack. Sadly for prospective buyers, and happily for sellers, $800-1000 is more realistic.

You could sell that for $1000 in NYC over the course of a weekend.

To Ken's point though, stripping mopeds of parts like fenders and covers does equate to puling money out of the bike, whether it fits the aesthetic or not.

The buyer can remove whatever they want, but it will cost them money to replace parts they don't have.

Re: Puch Magnum Appraisal -- How much is it worth

This thread is a god damn mess, and Ken has officially lost his mind

But as suggested, a title gives a bike a lot of value where you are, so try to get one, if not, you could sell in a neighboring state to someone at a rally or travel for the sale, Ohio, Michigan, all close and dont require a title for mopeds

Kens a professional! He knows what he’s talking about. Stop trying to rip people off guys. It might be worth $550 on a good day (edited)

Re: Puch Magnum Appraisal -- How much is it worth

I'm with ken on this one. Most people want a closer to stocker one for a reasonable price vs one that's been all done up to the 10s for 2k. I mean - you can get a *cough* real motorcycle for that and go 70-80 mph. Guessing urs is 40-50s? Next person gotta worry about who did what to it and when it's gonna go boom.

You def don't get what you put into a moped in resale when they look like urs. not saying it's bad. looks awesome

my 2c

Doesn't take anything to list on Craigslist and find out for sure what it's worth. Alot of people woukd end up doing the same to it that you did. Start with 1000.00 and put firm in the ad. That weeds out a lot of lowballers. Don't reply to offers unless on person. I use the CL messenger. It weeds out a lot of bs-ers.
