1978 Honda Hopper PA-50 (?)

all - we are selling a 1978 Honda moped we came across during our travels. we have done some research, but a soldier from the moped army stopped in and his knowledge of the bike was far greater than ours. here is what i do know, it has 201 original miles, and was first titled in beijing, china. it is in great shape cosmetically (there is a short tear along the seam line on the drivers seat), and will need a new cable handle on the right side. it has been riden, but will need a once over as it was inside hibernating for three decades. it does not have a PA title. we need space in the shop, so the best offer takes it. thanks for looking and have a great day. i can be best reached at jseekings@centuryfeatures.com, or via cel at 412 867 5283.

That's a clone of a Honda called Jialing. Made in China. Not sure how many parts are interchangeable but that's definitely not a Honda anything

Yeah definitely a Jialing. Buddy seat is cool but it doesn't have the center rack which is the coolest part of those imo

Buddy seat is cool, but I can't imagine anyone but a child being able to sit there, I would ditch it. Stock signals are cool too, it's a clone, but with such low mileage I bet it could run, how is tank? I bet the crank seals would interchange, and being a clone it may not be a 20mph like a red '78 Hobbit would be. I would buy it just 'cuz super weird! :) In studying the pic it looks like many parts would interchange, carb would come to mind, if anyone gets this, trace out the blinker wiring, since no battery on this, the system could be copied to non-blinker having Hobbits...like mine. Wish you were closer, this would be in my truck!

I think it is one of the scammers you see on craigslist and other sites that want you call or email then they bombard you with telemarketer calls and emails..

This shop is in Castle Shannon and I am the one who stopped by.

We did have the whole "it's a Jialing not a Honda Hobbit" conversation.

Not a scammer. And the shop has a buncha interesting stuff from cool to kitsch.

The ped is runner and it's in pretty good shape.... +1 the battery-less flasher relay and signals stuff is neato.

I dont know if the carb is a 10mm or 12mm or if the reedblock is a single or double, but the stock pipe header is a 12mm like a PA50-II (edited)
