When I bought it I took the top end off to take a look and ripped the base gasket. you can just cut another one and run it just fine.

I'm having trouble understanding not buying that totally rad but complex engine because it lacks a base
gasket. I imagine it's not going to be a straightforward drop engine onto sub and zoom. Making a decent base gasket seems kinda an easy part of it all. Maybe I'm wrong.
