WTB: Motobecane stock variator for a 50L upgrade

I have a Motobecane 50L which comes with only a clutch function, so also if anyone has any advice on adding a variator from a 50v to a 50L, let me know! I've read one thread here and they speak of gearing differences between the two. If anyone has experience with this kind of upgrade, I'd love to hear it.

The reason I want a stock variator is because the only other option I see among parts on Treatland are the MBK variators that require you to use either a piece of cardboard wedged in there to start or a $250 clutch pully, that I think still doesn't work with pedal starts. Also the stock variators on treatland have really bad reviews, if you guys want to speculate on why that is. Also the bike is already stock and running pretty great for my city commuting. I hear that adding a stock variator will only increase my torque, which I could use for take off and hills. I'd like to get more top speed too which is slowly happening as I tweak the jetting and other things.

If anyone wants to comment on what kind of upgrade path I should take, feel free.
