Yeah I gotta ask Avery, are you tryna make cash of mopeds? You'd have better luck panning for gold in the Charles River..

Neither are shitty flippers, do you enjoy being ostracized from the community in cbus? Ohio in general?
How am I flipping this when I've owned it for 4 yrs?
How about that derbi motor I sold you for a good price?
A it's a nice bike
B it's a freaking bargin. Even if say the case is somehow butchered because the rest looks fine.
Usually not how flipped bikes are described.
But bad moped blood IS bad blood. Sorry for whatever has happened. He is selling his project ...I always say finish the project to prove to yur self and others that you will do it. Selling a project is giving a dream up for lost. Finish it and then but. It if necessary. That's what I say.

^ exactly
What will it take to finish this bike? Fender, tail light, chains, speedo setup, exhaust, hand controls, cables, petcock, fuel line, fuel filter, carburator, intake, then get it running, so roughly $200. Then you've got a $1000 bike. So, does it matter whether the seller or the buyer finishes it or not?

That list is assuming you have shit laying around or have a line on cheap used stuff. You're also missing some stuff, like pedal shaft/pedals. Buying all of that stuff you listed from somewhere like treats would be at least $300. Not to mention there's no wiring harness. So you're basically building a bike from the ground up, which takes a lot of time and effort. Then you throw the whole thing together and the status of the engine is still unknown; it could have crusty bearings, a warped crank, who knows.
The price difference between a running bike and a rolling chassis/motor is not just the cost of parts to get there. There's more that goes into getting the bike running than that.
Eessshh.
Somebody just offered a grand for the red xk on facebook.
So is this bike really so overpriced? (edited)
It's got a Ltd trunk, so worth $1000!!!

Yes
go find one for less

I missed a few things and "getting it running" usually takes a rebuild, so it's probably more like $400. Now you end up with a $1200 bike that might not sell for $500. OP's been on this site for 11 years, so he could be clueless or knows what he's doing. The price will most likely get adjusted.
Are we joining this thread to shame the seller, warn buyers, or just complain?

so i went ahead and did the math of this one, going on your criteria. i made a treats basket and went with 3 guidelines, what is cheapest, and what is available, to put together a bike that is as close to a stock complete magnum for the price. lets dig in.
if you see anything on that list that a stock magnum would NOT come with, by all means please let me know. i tried to get it as close to a stock magnum as possible.
lets do that math!
$800 for the bike
$793 for parts
----------------------------
$1,593.00 so far
but wait, there are some parts that arent available at treats. now i want to be fair to avery here because he had JUST informed me the other day that it isnt a big deal if someone is asking 25-50 dollars more than the standard rate of parts, and that his buyers are VERY happy with their purchases, so im am CERTAIN that these avery approved prices are directly in line with their value.
so lets finish this build
complete set of side boxes -- $125
rear fender -- $100
magnum side covers -- $75
and optionally, if you want it all to match: mk2 trunk complete ---$75
so thats 375 dollars for the stuff you cant get at treats but avery would love to sell you.
whats our total look like now?
$800 for the bike
$793 for treats
$375 for non treats parts
--------------------------------------------
$1968
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW
WHAT A BARGAIN FOR A STOCK MAGNUM YOWZERS!
So the take away from this thread is...
Fuck flippers
Fuck this guy
That about wraps it up
Well given that it's gonna cost close to $1160 to complete this bike to stock and Avery is asking $800, maybe Avery should give the bike away along with $360 cash? That'll teach him.

did that one also need another $900 in parts to be complete? oh wait, no, it was totally complete and matching. and sold for 600.
so, yes. this bike is REALLY so overpriced
Last summer an older gentleman sold me a vespa roller frame and a Magnum with bashed in tank and frozen motor for $40. I took the vespa to Mopit and sold it to Monti for $60 and later sold the Magnum to Chris Hoke for $130, so I made a profit of $150 on 2 bikes after driving the vespa to Pittsburgh at my expense. Were those sales overpriced? Was I a flipper? Maybe it's best not to have a buy/sell section on this site because everybody wants every thing for cheap. I certainly didn't enjoy a later experience with Monti. I only buy used items from ebay and craigslist and deal as little as possible with MA members directly on this site. We can all be jerks.
Fuck you josh. The community is safe now that your posting. Thank god.
Sounds like your just mad because maybe you can't find cheap bikes anymore like you are certainly feel so entitled too?

No, you sold those at reasonable prices to other good members, however turning a huge profit with no work is ripping people off, which makes you a flipper, see the difference?
This is a small community, keeping the market appropriate benefits everyone, ostracizing yourself, well maybe thats good for the community to, because we dont need pieces of shit like this in here (edited)

Avery isn't a bad guy, I've bought stuff from him/met him before. I went to pick up a Puch seat from him, and he wound up throwing in some things I needed like a kickstand and oem mirror for free after we got to talking about my project. Just because he's trying to get more than something is worth doesn't necessarily make him a bad person.
