1980 Sachs Prime G3

Phil Barber /

I am looking for some help. I have this moped and know little about it. It was in my father in-laws house who now is in the hospital and I'm trying to help him out. I'm trying to find out how much this moped is worth. I got it running and it runs great. it has 165 miles on it. I'll post some pics. Any info would be great. Thanks

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

1,200-1,500

I sold my mint G3 for 700 bucks and it had all the side covers and the gas cap cover lock

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Benjamin LaPlante /

Yeah no more than $500. Location is dependent though.

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Kevin Bishop /

Sold mine for 1100 all parts included.

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

$1,000 minimum to the right buyer who appreciates the near mint vintage moped in this condition and mileage.

However typically... most 20 yo something’s on the forum think all mint low mileage mopeds are worth only $500.

Note: Based on my followings on the forum. (edited)

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Running, clean tank, complete =$800, no side covers -which are hard to find for this bike, means $700-$750

In the way they really are !

They’re just mopeds not gold

You know very little about what a bike is worth you couldn’t even restore one yourself ! That’s why you overpaid for the one you have and you think just because you overpaid everybody else should

you only had like one or two mopeds in your life

Mopeds been a big part of my life since 1977 I’ve never gave them up, I’ve had over 150 of them go through my hands and have a ok collection, I know what they worth you don’t,

Sachs mopeds are very common as much as a puch so nothing real collectible yeah eBay and craigslist list the same mopeds/small bikes over and over for high prices But most of them are fake ads or they just never sell

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Ken Roff quote "I know what they worth you don’t"

Who died & made you in charge of moped pricing Ken???

There is a lot to consider here, It is in very good shape with low miles. A collector or a person that had one when they were younger would price it higher than the 20 something MA member that wants to strip everything original off of it, slap a kit/pipe on it then abuse it for nothing more than speed.

We all know that fine or excellent original examples of 70s and 80s mopeds are getting harder to find, especially complete! That's what drives prices up like ANYTHING older and collectible.

But thanks for putting yourself on a very high pedestal Ken. You have owned over 150 bikes & that makes you great. Congrats buddy!

RI with a title, it has the D cylinder, good all round but needs tires <700 and if it is original that means you will have to service it. with new bearings and seals with an unovalled jug(no backslap), 1000-1200 if you find an interested party. in ohio or PA/nj it would go fer <600 as is, w/ title. 800-900 serviced.

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Missing the impossible to find gas cap. Missing the right side tank decals. Missing the side covers. Low miles doesn’t matter. This is worth $700

My buddy had a titled/minty/ perfectly running stock G3 for sale forever (like over a year) on marketplace and craigslist at $500. But yeah your probably right...

I guess it has been a while since I brought up the ol

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

on the plus, it is a D and it does look still pretty nice. I'm on board with the 700 valuation. If I were selling it I'd list it at 800 and take offers over 6

I've got a much rattier A here, and plan is to ask 7 and take offers over 5.

If I were buying, I wouldn't pay over 400. and even then it'd just be to tryn sell for 5 or 6.

though i'm not sure we're really in touch with going rates anymore. I see some step through tomoses selling in that same price range, and most any newb would easily believe this is worth way more (well like 1.5x). I wouldn't be surprised to hear this getting offloaded at a grand or even snagging a sucker and getting lucky for even higher $

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

If anyone buys this thing I have the plastic floorboard engine covers for it.

Thanks for all the info. I would sell this moped now. Send me a offer. Its a lot of fun to ride but I have to sell it. I'm selling for my father in-law. (edited)

The more I read this, the more I am realizing what a horses ass you really are Ken.

None of us care what you have owned, or how much knowledge you think you have.

Nobody cares.

Narcissistic personality disorder

Honestly if I was in your shoes, I would apologize to Andrew.

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

A thought, look around the garage, ask if the side covers are around, people often take them off and stash them somewhere, you will get more for it with them.

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Chris Carlton /

I have no idea what it’d be worth, but in my area (Burlington, VT) running mopeds in shit condition sell for a minimum of $550 and clean ones sell for $700-1,200. Best of luck with your situation and selling the bike!

Re: 1980 Sachs Prime G3

Ha Ha....That sounds so suspect.....
