Anyone have an AMF moped part mp-0072, the twist control 'decompression control' part, which is the plastic piece inside the grip?

I was going to refer him to the grand poobah ire mark, but it be more expedient to buy from Joe. I don't have one in my stash of AMF goodies.

Re: AMF Roadmaster, Need twist grip control part

So how can I obtain one of those??

Please advise!

Re: AMF Roadmaster, Need twist grip control part

Hmm gonna bump this thread back up there. One, looking for that damned plastic piece and was wondering if anyone had decided to go into production making them on a 3D printer? I need one plastic decompression (maybe more for backups) and one whole twist grip. I know, there is always ebay. But I would like to keep it in the MA family.

Ha welcome to AMF Anonymous. Love it.

I may have one now. PM me.

Re: AMF Roadmaster, Need twist grip control part

if one has the decompression rod on the carb linkage set right,, that locking tab, isnt really necessary to operate the throttle/ decomp system. One can hear, and feel the difference easily.

i've removed the decomp to a separate lever on occasion, running full throttle,, using the decomp to feed control,,, i like it works gooder, and makes a goofy sound....

Harriet,

Please contact IRE Mark first. He has more parts than I. I will give up my last one if need be, but far be it for me to interfere with fate. The only thing that Mark loves more than AMF Roadmasters and Volkswagen Busses is helping out a lady in distress. Plus both of you grew up in the same generation. I truly sense a love connection here (sorry if you are spoken for but even if you are he would still rip the shirt off his back for you to cross the mud puddle).

Re: AMF Roadmaster, Need twist grip control part

Does anyone have an extra decompression control for an 1978 Roadmaster that I can buy? I would also be interested in the throttle cable if it is in good shape, mine works but the shielding seems to have been cut to the wrong size as some point.

I have both. May just want to sell the cable.

I have a 1978 AMF Roadmaster that I'm would like to see if it will run before investing a lot of money into it and I need the MP-0072 Twist Grip Control.

Does someone have one that I could buy?

Is there a substitute one I could use if I can not find the correct one?

Thanks,

You could Maki handle bar decomp and choke controls and use a regular twist grip

Checked the parts bike, but no luck. See anything else on that you need?
