Looking for first Moped

Hello,

I just joined the site, I found it over the weekend as a friend and I have been thinking how much fun it would be to get some old mopeds ad hit the streets...apparently we are not alone!

Looking for something simple (as this is my first moped) I play with old cars, snowmobiles and am pretty confident in my garage/tools/skills, so if its a builder bike thats cool.

Let me know what you have for sale, project or complete cruiser!

Re: Looking for first Moped

Welcome!

I just did a quick search and found two puch maxi's for under $400. Here check them out. Oh yeah, not mine by the way. Just hoping to help another future mopeder.

Re: Looking for first Moped

Looks cool, what does it need at this point? I am not sure how it will work at the DMV if there is no title, any pointers?

I"ll give you your price if you met me half way...

On August 12, 2010 Dave Seley spoke with the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) supervisor 'Shirley' in the Albany District Office (1-518-473-5595). After much explanation on his part, she agreed with his argument that New York must honor Massachusetts registrations including mopeds. She advised him to fax the NYDMV legal department so they can fax him back something in writing to carry so as not to get ticketed by an officer who does not know the federal law regarding interstate registration reciprocity. She confirmed the requirements for mopeds in the Polk, the book the cops use. The initial fax by Dave may be seen here and their response may be seen here.
