1978 Honda Hobbit PA50 II - Brake Cables

Hey there, I posted in the repair forum, but figured I would post here also.

I recently purchased a 1978 honda hobbit, and the engine runs well, the only problem that I am having, is a bit of difficulty in locating brake cables. Minutes after the purchase, the rear cables broke, and I am having difficulty locating a replacement.

Most part sites I've checked list this as not available.

The SKU numbers are

Front = 14950-148-010

Rear = 43450-148-670

I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find some brake cables, or if there are possibly alternate non-OEM parts that could be used instead.

Thanks for the info!

Also, I did not put WTB in the subject, but yes, I am looking to buy these.

Also, if it is impossible to order new cables, or even alternate cables, would the best option be to find someone parting out a PA50 and go for some used brake cables?

Re: 1978 Honda Hobbit PA50 II - Brake Cables

I posted the following in your other posting:

Part number for the front brake cable is: 45450-148-670 or 45450-148-671 fits both PA50I and PA50II

Part number for rear brake cable is: 43450-148-670 or 43450-148-671B fits both PA50I and PA50II

I do not know what the part no. 14950-148-010 is for but I will try to find out for you. FYI: the 148 code is for the PA50 series so it is for something there anyway.

Re: 1978 Honda Hobbit PA50 II - Brake Cables

Found it: the pn: 14950-148-010 is for the decompressor cable.

Does anyone use the decomp on a hobbit? I have never touched mine...

Re: 1978 Honda Hobbit PA50 II - Brake Cables

I was just given a '80 PA50II by a neighbor and one of the things I'm missing is the decompression cable, They work without one ? About the only other parts I find missing are the floorboards and battery box ( i'm not sure where it is-and if it has one. Any help on any of this, Thanks Rex
