i have a cylinder... i dunno if its "fast". it has biggish transfers. bigger than some ive seen.

round ports is the fast one. why don't you just port the cylinder you have

with slow cylinders you're working against lower compression thanks to the additional material on the top of the cylinder, shorter transfer duration and the intake port is in a different spot, further up on the cylinder which is going to severely shorten its duration. you can compensate for all this, sure. but its easier to start with a fast cylinder.
