FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

After much consternation, I've decided to sell my race bike. The Bike is available in one piece or as individual items. It includes:

-A highly tuned 75cc Ghilardoni Kit, with welded, ported transfers on the engine case.. 4-petal reed cage, custom manifold, polished & profiled cylinder head. This system is attached to a Puch ZA50 2-speed transmission, also modified for maximum performance. Attached to this engine is the Homoet 8p expansion chamber -designed specifically for 75cc systems. This engine has propelled me with an 18/38 ratio to a GPS verified top speed of 63mph. -though I feel it has potential for more, with adjustments in carburetion and ignition timing. Dutch tuning forums list the output of this set-up around 10-13hp, varying from site to site.

-A Dellorto PHBG 21mm Carburetor, already jetted for the above motor, with a two stage foam Uni-pod air filter

-A Customized Electronic ignition system for this engine, based on Hero, Tomos and Puch components, this system not only provides 80watts of 12V lighting for the machine, but also improves reliability and increases the motors' rpm range

This engine is not for a 'noob' and will require a builder with solid mechanical skills and understanding of two-stroke theory to make it scream. It chatters as it engages second gear, so new buffers will be included. Additionally, the piston could stand replacement as compression has lowered over time. -and adapting the electronic system into a standard harness takes some effort as well. -Having said all that, this engine has been a 'baby' of mine, and much research as well as elbow grease has been expended in assembling this rare, lightning fast hi-performance engine.

Price $500 -I am open to trades/negotiations

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

sounds like a great motor. did you put a race crank in? have you done any clutch work? and what bike is this engine on? i assume the $500 price tag is just for the engine right? do you have any pics?

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

sounds like quite the engine.

oh god that sounds amazing

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

I may so buy that.

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

What will you trade for?

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

When I built this bike, I was relatively new to the moped stuff, and I was attempting to build the fastest possible bike without a ton of custom fabrication. My interest has drifted towards modifying original 50cc equipment, but also the time I've spent with the mopeds has broadened my scope abit in terms of what's possible with a superfast bike. I'd consider trades related to later Puegeot variator mopeds as well as the Vespa & Lambretta scooter stuff I'm into. I will post pics of the engine soon.

Cheers,

Josh

I might have a peugeot to trade you

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

At the time I assembled this motor, there was no 2 spd. 'race crank' available. I went through three engines before finding a crankshaft that was within Puch's listed tolerances, the gudgeon pin has been optimized for lubrication and suprisingly the crank has never been an issue. I destroyed one and a half ZA50 transmissions setting this up, partially due to my mistakes, but also due to the engine's power. The gearbox has been tweaked to hold longer in first gear, and also to rev up faster into 2nd.

The bike it's attached to (as I completely forgot in the first post) is a Puch Maxi-Luxe with a tension bar welded across the gastank to the seat stock. Also of note is a reinforced rear swingarm, to stiffen sway through turns. Shocks are OEM, 31cm in the rear and the standard fork up front. The rear fender is bobbed and the bike wears Michelin 2.5x17" M29S tires (which rock)

I will post pics later today.

Cheers,

Josh

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

Hey Josh are there any particular models or makes that you would like to trade for? Let me know.

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

That's fucking sick Josh. I'm in Columbus and would really like to take a look at the bike/engine... not neccessarily to buy it but just to see it's sheer awesomeness. I've heard of your other puch with a Tomos jug on it and have. I mentioned your screenname to Will Laing from Supersonic Scooters (I work there on saturdays) and he told me he'd ridden the bike and how incredibly fast it was.

I've got a custom painted Puch Maxi 64cc Polini Race bike that I just recently finished building and didn't plan on selling or trading, but now that now that I see this sweet engine (or whole bike) for sell, I might want to trade it for it if you'd be willing. if you could email me your address so I could come take a look at the bike that would be cool, or if you haven't taken the engine off yet, you could ride down to Supersonic Scooters on Saturday, I know Will and I would appreciate it.

* I attached a picture of my puch racer (minus front fender and the seat isn't done yet).

THAnks

Alex

Re: FS: 75cc Ghilardoni ZA50 Race Motor

Hey, I was the kid that talked to you at ZootScoots on Saturday. I gave you my number and you said you'd call me up on Sunday so I could come take a look at the bike, but you never called to verify if I could come look at the bike/ engine or whenever you would be available. I'm pretty sure I gave you the right number but in case I didn't:

442-0170

If you see this, please call me back ASAP to make arrangements (I also emailed you but, I figured I would post here to in case your logged on and happen to see my message).

thanks

Alex
