Does moss grow on a rolling magneto?

I fixed up an old mobylette recently and put some vroom vroom parts on it. The other day I was riding down the street when suddenly my magneto comes flying off (I forgot to put the nut back on after resetting the timing). Anyways, it shoots down the road and skips a couple of times like when you skip a rock over the water and ended up bouncing into the canal. I waded into the water and retrieved it then walked my bike home. Couldn't imagine if there would have been a car in front of me when it happened lol.

That must be what those flywheel covers are for…

Probably has no fenders, covers or chain gard either.

Re: Does moss grow on a rolling magneto?

Ouch. I felt that one.

I do have a flywheel cover though. Probably never need it to keep it outta the creek.

I can’t picture how it stayed on for one rotation w/o the shaft nut.

Re: Does moss grow on a rolling magneto?

I'll bet the nut is in the canal too. Probably was in place but not tight enough.
