Name That Car Contest

Winner gets bragging rights and you might see a little extra somethin' on your next check. First image shows the museum of human rights and the Espalande Riel. Notice a clump in the water lower RH corner. Second image shows a car with a sporty roof line and head rests on the back seat. Didn't notice any skeletal remains. River levels are still dropping so I'll check back in a few days...

96 chevy impala

Re: Name That Car Contest

Mercedes of some sort? Most American cars did not have the rear seat headrests.

All 91 to 96 Caprice/Impalas were off my radar. Not their best styling effort. Whatever it is the hood got folded back on impact. There's no place to launch a car close to where it is so it probably floated a mile or two before sinking...

Who's in it. That's the question

Re: Name That Car Contest

2004 BMW 330. Thats my guess.

Re: Name That Car Contest

^Trunk is kind of big for that? I really don't know, it's an interesting sighting for sure, will be interested to see if the answer is ever found?

Jimmy Hoffa

Don't think there's any bodies but I'd be interested in popping the trunk. Anybody remember the movie "A simple plan" with Billy Bob Thorton? Three blue collar guys discover a downed light plane with a huge bag of cash. All the bills were serialized so it didn't end well...

Re: Name That Car Contest

hah, that's pretty awesome

I had a friend in highschool we got this big old mercury, he was doing donuts on this frozen swamp and the ice started cracking, he just bailed and left it there.

The next part's unrelated really to the car but pretty nuts - he had some outstanding warrant and when the police came to his place (this is in NH) about the car he bailed out the back window with just his clothes and wallet

dude managed to make it somehow to Maryland (from NH in shitty weather with nothing and barely any money) got a place to stay and a job and got stable for over 6 months, then tried to get an MD license and they nabbed him. Ironically they put him on house arrest back in NH, partly so he could keep his job (which was in Maryland...)

anyway, pretty neat story.

Great story. I worked with a guy that was always in trouble with the law. He leaves work at lunch time and comes back with around 50 cartons of smokes. He was selling them cheap to everyone then the cops showed up. Must of been one of the dozen security cameras at the gas bar he robbed. Used his own car...LOL.

Re: Name That Car Contest

I knew a guy that bought a very expensive Mercedes that turned out to be a lemon.

He must have known some people not afraid to do some shady stuff.

It was “stolen” and set on fire down by the river. Damn theives… right?

Wish someone would come steal my hondas.

Maybe this car was just upside down on a loan and ened up parked in a river

Re: Name That Car Contest

The trunk should pop on it's own when submerged. Safety feature to depressurize it or something.

Except that car is toasted.

Its a German car without question. BMW was the first thing to come to mind upon noticing the flaired edge of that trunk lid.

Hoffa is buried under the south footer @ the old Bethlehem steel plant the cranes one footer was never disturbed but rather an extremely expensive unnecessary casan was built around it that now has a nice flower garden sands casino was built with funds from the pension fund. Jimmy got caught skimming off both.

Are you saying this is a thing, or that it should be a thing?

Yeah, I’ve heard about VW and likely others unlocking doors and cutting pwr to the fuel pump and shite like that in an accident, never a trunk pop feature. That might make watching accidents more fun tho💁🏼‍♂️

Re: Name That Car Contest

Maybe mistaking it for the fact all new cars have a release for the trunk inside, so kids who lock themselves in can get out

Re: Name That Car Contest

I dunno, but when there's a flood, you'll see tons of cars with the trunks open. I heard it was a safety feature so the car doesn't sink nose down, or it depressurizes it or something.

When I was in new Orleans after Katrina hit, there were hundreds of cars with the trunks popped, and it wasn't from looters. A lot of them were still floating.

Side note; tons of cars had there batteries stolen. By the national guard. They would "commandeer" them, along with empty houses, and set up camp, using the batteries to power fans and shit that they also "commandeered."

Kentucky Fried Movie 1977...Ahead of their time...

Re: Name That Car Contest

Yes the nose of a car sinks first. When one cant open a door because the water level is too high then the trunk is an alternative since its opening is higher.

Re: Name That Car Contest

Oh man! I was trying to remember what movie that KFM scene was from, I kept thinking it was Top Secret. Thanks!!
