I dont disagree they were once at least pretty good. They had some clever advances and made some good bikes. But they didnt keep up, they were still make great 50's bikes in the 70s, while you could buy better japanese bikes for a lower cost. Then they started cutting cost instead of improving quality, and became a cheap junky bike.
There was a period in the 80s where they came back with some rebadges on some decent asian-made bikes, I really love that era of schwinns, but they werent coming out with good designs or pushing winning teams or making top end stuff, they were just trying to make money
I dont think the modern ones are made by anyone related to schwinn anymore tho, now its just a name slapped on mass produced productions. Like Motobecane and Windsor, tons of the classic bike brands are now just a name on some cheap bikes.
Remember like 15 years ago when they had Schwinn china 50cc gy6 scooters?
