My dad's ironhead choppy is like 2" maybe over but the frame wasn't raked for it so it rides like crazy dogshit, but I guess that's the appeal. The fork tubes bend as much as they articulate. 40 is terrifying. When you're riding a 500# hunk that has all of 35 horsepower that's kinda the fun part. Single rear drum is more of a suggestion over 50 mph you've got to downshift and engine brake 3rd and 2nd if you want to stop in any kind of reasonable distance.
Don't get me wrong, I get the appeal, it's akin to going 60 on a shitty moped, but it drives me nuts how everything on the bike is cobbled and jacked up. Stuff like the Kickstarter being loose, the brake not returning, that kinda stuff drives me nuts. I need to spend a weekend just going through it and unfucking everything but I got plenty of my own junk to work on. Maybe in the spring I'll clear a spot in the shop and make it halfway decent.
