Honda Elite please help

Carb cleaned, fuel system cleared....

Drive belt?

Bad something in the drivetrain

Will not go faster than 15mph.....

Re: Honda Elite please help

Hang in there.

I don't know a thing about scooters, except it might be the clutch slipping or like you said, bad drive belt. Someone will answer here or in your original post.

Re: Honda Elite please help

It's 2020 take a video of it running. The more info people have the greater the chance of them helping diagnose it.

How does the spark plug look?

Re: Honda Elite please help

Check post in Repair section

Re: Honda Elite please help

Still no video in there. Order the correct sparkplug and see what happens.

This is a whack waste of time. I'm sure the OP has a good plug in it.

See my post in repair.

Re: Honda Elite please help

is it even a 2 stroke, or the 4 stroke? theres like a dozen different elites. could be anything from valves to plugged exhaust, ignition or fuel trouble, bad gas, clogged jets, stuck variator, like really need a LOT more detail here, like 1st off, what elite is it? and detail like what's it doing at 15? is it screaming high RPM and just not going faster? is it stuttering or bogging? is it just generally feelin underpowered all around?

Maybe the parking brake is on.

It’s an Elite 50. I believe all Elites were 4 stroke. Aeros were 2 stroke. I have an Aero 50 & 125.(edited)

Pushrod Fifty /

Could be a clogged muffler. Unscrew it a little and see if it improves and if so, clean by filling with draino.

I should have thought of this. I had the same thing happen on an old Express.

Could be, I wonder if they'll post their findings after repairing or just ghost.

4 strokes don't generally clog mufflers as bad as 2 strokes.

Re: Honda Elite please help

The clogged muffler sounds plausible. It did allow compressed air through it but that seemed stifled. Draino attempt is my next move.

I thought elite 50s were mostly 2 strokes.

Elite 50 are 2 stroke. I would bet on the variator not opening up all the way. Does it get up to 15mph fast and then just kinda tach up?

Re: Honda Elite please help

Yes, up to 15 and then maxed sounding, with major bogging at that point. The variator will be checked

Re: Honda Elite please help

Pushrod Fifty /

I had one that someone gave me because it would barely run. Loosened the 2 nuts on the header and fired right up. Not knowing much about pipe cleaning back then, I tried to stick a rod into the stinger and it hit flat metal. Must have been a restrictor plate. I took a long 1/2" drill to it and it went like a motherfucker and sounded sweet. Went 0 to 30 in about 2 seconds, well more or less.

I sold it because it was so uncomfortable to ride.

Re: Honda Elite please help

They are fast little fuckers. What year is yours? I think after 96 or something they are highly sought after. My buddy is into them and has a 125cc stroker kit and that thing is scary. 0-65 so fast. The thing just hits a wall because of the gears he has in it. Guys in Hawaii mod them with same 125cc kit and put tall gears in them so they go over 100. No way!! I dont like to ride his. Front wheel just hovering the whole time.

Elite 50 was a 2T.

Check obvious, as well as vario weights and that it is working OK, and try to de-clog pipe, maybe?

They are great bikes. Simple like a moped, Honda-reliable. Good luck.

Try putting on a grill and cooking it free? I’ve had great luck with that.

Re: Honda Elite please help

^ Dollar store oven cleaner.

Re: Honda Elite please help

Sounds like something I'm going to end up doing

How long of a drillbit?

Re: Honda Elite please help

Mine is an 87.

Probably Looking to sell this and make a bit of profit or pull motor and use it on my trike.

**if I trike this motor, I'm probably going to try adding an axle from my delta trike because theres far less to swap that way.

I'll probably be Looking for some 20 inch down to 14 inch wheels. These 26 inchers seem a bit overkill.

Re: Honda Elite please help

Best to just clean it and make it a stock runner ir will he easoer to sell because your going to hate it.

Re: Honda Elite please help

Re: Honda Elite please help

All Sa50 Elite models are 2 Stroke. This is a great online resource: Motor Scooter Guide and from that site : The Elite S was restricted via a washer behind the variator, a smaller main jet and a highly restrictive exhaust. If you are going to de-restrict one, you should also know that the restricted version has a different throttle cable that does NOT open the oil pump like the full speed version.

So - depending on which model you have maybe this is part of your problem

Also: From 1988 to 1993, the SA50 used the same AF05E motor found in the SE50 (and the NB50 before that). Then for 1994 Honda decided to switch the SA50’s motor from the aging AF05E to the newer vertical AF16E engine found in Dio’s worldwide (including Canada since 1992). With the motor updated, Honda also added a moped legal version capable of 30mph called the Elite S (SA50P). Both motors were capable of top speeds of 40-43mph unless you buy a restricted example. Fuel milage is typically for a 50cc 2-stroke at 65-75mpg.
