Re: Off topic car rant! WHY is a manual transmission car so hard to find?!?
Because they are, and should be, becoming thankfully and justifiably outdated. I'm only irritated that enthusiasm for manual shifting has retarded the development of automatic transmissions in two wheeled vehicles.
It sounds, to my ear, like a "why don't we still have a fucking manual choke on the dash of new cars?!!!" rant. Yeah. Better control over the cold start. Whatever.
Or "why does no one know DOS anymore? windows is such a bullshit lazy way to compute!! You don't learn anything about the machine, clicking icons is lazy, and it takes control over the machine away from me!!!!"
All just bullshit. I probably have a million combined miles on manual shift vehicles in my lifetime. Last few cars and trucks have been automatics. I'd go back only kicking and screaming. Let it go the way of the bias ply tire, carburetors, and drum brakes. My honda civic's auto is so well designed that I can finesse a wide range of shift points out it depending on how much foot I put in or out of it at the pedal. I do that all the time. If I REALLY need to stay in low I put it in low.
