I made this painting

This is one of my paintings, oil on cardboard.

Inspired by a trip to "frisco".

Lately i've been stepping into the realm of impressionism, and abstract imagery. I definitely like the colors on this one. It's almost psychedelic, like an Alex Grey painting.

For those of you enjoy art, what do you think of it?

I like it, my favorite part is the sky with the yellow and green and blue. Great work!

Also, I noticed the thumbnail looks better than the close up. It is really nice looking when viewed from since distance! At first I thought too much red in the water, but when I noticed the thumbnail I like it a lot more.

Once again, Great work!

Re: I made this painting

Im glad you noticed that! Also, thank you!

Re: I made this painting

The earth is supposedly 8” per mile curvature, seems a little drastic. Know what I mean, the horizon is horizontal, sea level means u can use it to measure up or down from cuz it’s level. Mabe tilt it a fuzz and snap another pick.

Dig it! Also Alex grey is one of my favorite artists. How well does the oil on cardboard hold up?

Oil tends to soak into the board, but I put a few layers of gesso to stiffen it up a bit.

It used to be super flimsy, now it's like a soft wood!

Major applause for posting that, I don't think I could post art on the internet, being a neophyte as I am at it.

Keep going. Art museum's are filled with just as many artists who never thought their work was good, as it was with self-proclaimed masters.

Re: I made this painting

sweet! do you paint often? post em up, it's cool!

Re: I made this painting

I like the texture of the cardboard giving it a pixelated look.

Re: I made this painting

You got to work on your color palette if you made your colors pop more it would be awesome like think more like bright vibrant clean colors this is coming from somebody that works with an art Professor for close to a decade

Re: I made this painting

Almost like cheetachrome said I admire some parts of it. You should look for paint night meetings. The instructors at paint nights are perfectionists and wont let you leave without it looking almost perfect most of the time. Ill post a painting I did tomorrow if I remember. I still have a lot to learn too but I am running out of space to put my paintings.

Re: I made this painting

heres another painting I made, I am definitely getting tired of doing the abstract thing. I like things like this where you can marvel in its glory. Making pieces like this is like perfecting nature to me.
