My scoot has a Italy eng and was made in France at the MBK plant for a company.

What is it?

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

It's an MBK. Yamaha bought Motobecane and rebranded it. The engine will be a Minarelli, also owned by Yamaha (I think).

Post a picture up of said scoot.

Yep it's the Yamaha Zuma With the French Minarelli with the upright cylinder and big 183mm front disk brake.

Putting a Honda SR-Expres body on/in it, so it will be 80 lbs lighter than a stock Zuma.

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

all the zumas with horizontal minarelli engine were made by MBK in france and had a real Minarelli engine

the earlier ones with the vertical engine were made in Japan i want one of those

Most of the later Zuma horizontal minarelli engines were made in Yamaha's big twain factory.

Mine has the vertical engine, but i think it was made in the MBK plant in France.

fucking cool

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

Since everyone is being so nice lets see if I cant change that.

Its no zuma or rucks but here's my choice of of reliable daily 2 wheeled action.. Love it or hate. It will still never compare to my love for mopeds.

Paid a grand for it in April and put well over 3000 miles on it this summer with out a single hiccup. Only other money put into it were for oil change and a new plug.. 652cc single cylinder rippppper. The torque it has is just silly.

Bump'n a scooter thread

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

While not a big fan of Rucki, probably more due to the scene than anything else, I can dig some scoots. My first bike was a stolen-used in a "high speed chase"-wrecked-caught on fire-recovered and impounded 97 Yamaha Riva Razz 125 I bought at a police auction for $10. I rode it for a few years, ghetto as Fuck and dirty as hell, until I got my fist moped. Then a month or so ago my dad picked up a pair of nice Razz 50s from an estate sale, and I've been using the red one for a daily the last few weeks. Tiny, lightweight, 35mph cruiser. Fun as all get out.

I just got a pretty badass peugeot speedfight this weekend. fast

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

I would do a Zuma. They can rip dicks so easily. I hate the fact that the ruckus is the preferred platform for scooter wrenching nerds.

Re: Hate it or love it, the honda ruckus. or zuma

I picked up a new scoot a few months ago. It's a '14 Piaggio Fly 150. Love my peds for fun riding but I wanted something that I felt more comfortable with for taking to work on 45+ MPH suburban/rural roads. I guess I'm prone to extremes, my Ciao and Maxi are super simple carburated machines, my Fly is fuel injected and has a starter button that you just press and let go, it does the rest.

As has been said previously in this thread, both are fun in their own way.

Another perk was that I've always bought older, used peds and scooters, sometimes they'd come with the manual or warranty stuff and I always imagined the guy that bought that ped or scoot new 30 years ago and what that day was like. Now I'm that guy, hopefully some kid will be fixing up my Fly 30 years from now.

every time i start researching other 2-wheel devices thinking "oh yeah i would totally ride this or that (gyro, scooter, small cc motorcycle) i realize how much more expensive everything is: insurance, annual registration, etc., parts.

the only thing cheaper than a two wheeled moped is a moped with a sidecar. in CA, a sidecar/3-wheeled motorized device only requires class C license so you only need your C endorsement..
