i am thinking of stripping my tomos moped completely and chopping the tail (maybe get spoke wheels) and give it handle bar bell.... along with stock tomos engine side and engine cowling covers and make it look like a bicycle.... or at the least an electric bike. anyone else do this? has it worked?

Going legit does NOT suck, then no one can bother you about riding, ins is cheap for mopeds.
Move to a better state where Mopeds are considered bicycles and we need nothing.

The electric bicycles according to federal regulations are restricted to a 750 watt (mW??) motor and limited to under 19 mph... You could make your own home brew electric bike that would go faster.
My legal electric bike is actually has a shit load of torque and is very fast off the line.. It can pop wheelies.
Your best bet for this would be to use an AV7 or 103 motor. They are smaller and could be hidden better.
just retrofit a bussa motor and out run them. two hundred miles an hour wont catch your ass
not riding dirty or suspended... i just don't see why a moped needs to be licensed at all.... which then requires insurance. ppl say insurance is cheap... like $400 a year. come on man... the moped itself is $400. then you have to get a license to ride one... gimme a break. on the flip side i've never been stopped on my blue tomos sprint with luggage carrier on the back. the luggage carrier gives the illusion it's electric.
i've have excuses ready tho. it has pedals... it's under 50cc... can't you ride this with a drives license? and if all else fails..... "okay sir... i'll pedal home".

I live in Ontario and also face the same moral dilemma.
thinking of biting the bullet and going the legal way, insurance is probably cheaper than getting caught "driving a motor vehicle without insurance"
