My gut feeling dave is not to approach this thing lightly. xcountry is no cakewalk. 4 gigs of whatnot means dickety-pie when you're in country. Keep it charged. Plan and have your stuff on hand. Get in touch with the creatures who did the South American trip, or the mopedguys.com who did the xcountry thing, or libby, who did the whole thing on her lonesome, with a big cheering section, and as much remote help as could be gathered from away when needed. They all have a lot to help you with. It also wouldn't hurt to ask at the MRA. Being older hands, they know this stuff and my experience is they are helpful. Old and gnarly but helpful. Just a joke!

But be prepared. One of Libby's first posts was something about how many ticks you can collect in a single night of camping.

If a guy called targaped tries to sell you a toilet seat for greater comfort, just let it go.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

you should do the whole trip with your oil injector disconnected just to spite you-know-who.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

If Davekitts agrees to disconnect his oil injector, I'll buy him a toilet seat. That's all I can do.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

so far injector is on. my last tomos, i took the whole shebang off. well see how it goes. no toilet seat, have great gear (hoping no ticks, besides, undress IN the tent.)

i have my plans in some order. ready to rock out. the 4 gig card was just a bonus. i have my gps and celly to help, as well as a few other goodies. im taking nothing of this lightly.

id try to contact all those people vim, but i leave sunday.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

Dave,

Agian, if you pass through Southern Ohio, stop by my shop for a free tune up or any maintenance you may need and a place to sleep if you need it

Good Luck and be careful,

Ike

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

ez da snow man !! /

its about 45 min or so, but on a ped you would have to take 41, and it would take you more like an hour and 45 or more depending on the traffic..

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

ez, i might have to make the trip.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

Hey Dave, I'm not trying to rain, I think this is really great. Something I thought about: Just make sure you figure out quickly how much ground you can cover in one day, ie, make sure your first couple of planned resting points are pretty conservative. You don't want to burn out quickly with a couple 12 hour ride days in the front, waking up with a back that aches like no other, Only to find that your next destination is 300 miles away. Long rides are really draining on your body. Make sure there are spots where you can take a day to rest. GOOD LUCK! hope to see you in LA! Make sure you have a way to contact all these people who plan to help, get their numbers in your phone!

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

tracy, youre def not raining on anything! my gps and maps that i have ive marked out a lot of places (gps does it for me at intervals i set, kinda like the nagging passenger that constantly has to pee) so im going to take my time.

the bully rally is out, tho. theres no way i can make it in under a week, 2 weeks is more like it, not to mention some familly shit i have to take care of in fla first.

i also have everyones contact stuff off here in my cell, and on paper. please feel free to email me at dmk_132003@tmail.com if you wanna ride!

this will be fun, thats all i know. even if i blow the bike to hell in 1000 miles, thats better than i expected. i live for this shit!

the meaning of life is to live. remeber that.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

Yea dude come down south first. I hope me giving you a hard time about your moped trip made you want to do it more!

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army

anything that was said made me do it more! and im not too sure if i can make it down that way, i need to get to orlando asap, but maybe.

Re: An open letter to all Moped Army
