Rob @t ATTN! Burrito /

you will need at least pics, or a few thousand words. all i can say right now is, you're doing it wrong.

Re: HPI HELP!

We've had a few set of eyes on this problem now and we're stumped!

Re: HPI HELP!

i had same issues,

1. i ditched timing light

2. i set at 1.56 BDC

3. check your grounds, i had to sand the powdercoating/paint off to make a good contact. also i double grounded everything on my bike. maybe that's overkill? i have good spark, i set the timing two years ago, my bike does over 60 and never once an issue. (an issue with the HPI at least)

i hardly check MA, at least the gen forum so feel free to email me and i'll be more then happy to help you. nothing worse then spending a shit ton of money on a part that is suppose to be magical, getting 72 different opinions on "how you're doing it wrong", and finally getting your answer a month later. find the thread that has the step by step instructions, go thru everything again to make sure all variables are covered and then give me a call or good luck to ya.

Re: HPI HELP!

I throw beer bottles at mty cdi to make it work.

Re: HPI HELP!

We tried grounding it in 3 Different spots.

Re: HPI HELP!

Sam i have read them all but i will email you and let you know the things ive done maybe we are missing something. We are going to try taking one off a running bike to see if maybe theres something we are missing. but i feel like you would have to be super stupid to fuck these things up.

Re: HPI HELP!

well, i've got the hpi mini rotor, but i think its mostly the same as far as installing. all i can say that might help you is following the directions exactly worked fine for me, but that I have it advanced as far as I can go on the stator right now, but my temps still are average.

Re: HPI HELP!

Check out Rafter's HPI page on the Motomatic blog. They tested the HPI on a dyno and found this to be the best position. I found it useful setting up my bike.

The best way to for sure ground it is to take a wire and crimp eye-lit style connectors on each side. (the kind bolts go though;looks like a washer) bolt one side to the intake and the other to the coil. That can't not ground.

Could not grounding the Ht coil be as harmful as spinning it without the plug grounded to the engine.

Re: HPI HELP!

sometime this week im going to take it all apart and try again maybe ill have a better result i found some things we didnt try wish me luck!

Re: HPI HELP!

im bumping this one too since maxs hpi is mine now and before i try and try and try to get it to spark i was wondering if the box could be bad? or stator?
