89 Motomarina spark plug

I'm looking to find what plug to use in a 89 Motomarina Sebring that i just got Thanz alot ,Dan

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

Hi! I own 2 of them and I like BOSCH. AUTO-Zone crossed over a Champion # for me.To get the info.,call Handy bikes (614-299-0550) and ask for B.J..He'll probably ask if you have a Franco-Morini engine or the Minerelli. BYE!

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

its a 89 Sebring Royal with Minerelli engine

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

Hi,Dan! Just give me a little time and I'll look under the hood of my MOTOMARINA Sebring. The one with the Minarelli you know. It runs like a scalded dog! I think the kid who sold it to me may have had his Dad hop it up a little. But I think it has a fuel delivery problem. I rode it on a 30 mi. trip on back roads from Jackson,OH to Oak Hill,OH and I almost got stuck with pushing it the last 3 mi. home. I revved it up,closed the choke(this sucks fuel thru the jet and updraft tube at a tremendous increase and can free up some restrictions.)and by doing this I barely made it into the driveway before midnight struck.Maybe that was my wife that struck! SEE YA!

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

right now im trying to get spark, got current to the coil.can't get any plug to spark,I put another coil off a ped that is running, didn,t do anything, its showing good current to the coil, i put the sparkplug wire without the plug to the head and it has a [little spark]in the dark.I bought the one on Ebay last week.they said the engine was locked up.Untrue, the brakeshoe in the rear brokeand jammed.Just another little project to drive nuts --er. Thanks much Dan

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

the minarelli v1 engine uses a champion L86C series spark plug or a bosch w8ac, but use a bosh platinum. that's the best spark plug. any auto parts store should be able to cross reference it for you.

if you have spark, be sure to also check your timing. that'll improve your timing. and use a bosch platinum. it will run much better for you.

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

Hi,Dan! I took the no-good Champion plug out today and called AUTO-ZONE.Miguel is right. It takes that number in a` PLAIN JANE' Bosch, but I opted for the platinum which is #4214.My wife and I went on a little picnic and we rode around Lake Alma above Wellston OH on both MOTOMARINAS.Only about 10 mi. of riding because I had to work tonight, but it was fun.My 10 yr. old boy Weston rides on the back.My wife isn't used enough to moped riding to trust herself with carrying him around,so I took the more powerful Minarelli -powered one and she drove the one with the weaker, older Franco-Morini.WE HAD A LOT OF FUN UNTIL I ACCIDENTALLY WENT THE WRONG WAY ON A ONE_WAY PATH !!! Little Westy got to meet the Park Ranger and see Daddy get counseled! Oh, well,at least no ticket! One other thing: If your spark is weak it could be buil-up on your points which you'll need to file smooth and reset or buy new points.BYE!

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

great to hear the bosch platinums worked for you. and it's great to see a whole family on a moped. my dad used to ride a motorcycle, until my mom was pregnant w/ my second brother. she made him get a car then. we used to ride four (mom, dad, two little boys, and my mom pregnant) on a motorcycle. those were great times.

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

Yeah, Miguel. I used to say put Autolites or Motorcraft in a Ford, put AC Delco in your GM car, and put Mopar or Champion plugs in your Cry-Slur.But when I got into `pedding,I found that you've got to take advice from people that know.I did think that Bosch Platinums were good before because I'd run them in my wife's luxury liner(Grand Marquis LS).And I've always had the perception that 2-cycle engines are much more finicky about a spark plug's condition and quality. About the family,it sounds like you've been there and enjoyed that, and a lot of kids out there just don't get the chance.Your Mom and Dad sound like good sports!I guess I'm like my Dad.He is as big a `square' as you'd ever see,but he never let us be deprived and he has a good clean sense of humor.I got my mechanical abilities and interests from Mom's side though.Dad can't fix anything that has wheels or more than 3 moving parts.I try to help some of the kids that come around to see the `peds, you know, take them for a ride or give them some bike tires or tubes or what they sometimes need but can't afford. That's the way Dad showed us to do.

Re: 89 Motomarina spark plug

Well im not going any faster than i was the last post. Still weak spark. When you hold the bare plug nexts to the head you get a little spark.I told a friend to hold the to if he could feel the juice,he jumped but said it wasn't that great, more scare, not enough to light up a spark plug. so im still cruisin at 0 mph.even thou i was peddling 30mph. thanz Dan
