Tool for stuck piston

I thought I would share pics of this simple tool I made to hammer out a stuck piston after the several wooden dowels I tried using kept splitting. It's pretty simple and seems to have worked well without mangling the piston. I cut a brass plug with a 14 degree squish on the lathe and made it insert into an aluminum plug to take the impact of the hammer.

rad tool btw! i too usually just end up using jammed pistons as a wood splitter

Re: Tool for stuck piston

If you could combine that with some sort of two or four jaw puller you could grab the cylinder and just crank it out. No need to bang.

Re: Tool for stuck piston

Yeah I used all the old tricks acetone/atf mix, torch, wooden dowels, and strap wrench on the flywheel but this one just wouldn't budge after fighting with the top end for a frustrating week.

Aaron good idea... that was actually going to be the next step if this didn't work... at least my penis didn't get all mangled doing it this way.

Re: Tool for stuck piston

i use my bearing splitter when someones not borrowing it
