Poloni 75cc problem

So here is my setup

V1

Stock pipe

Stock intake bored out

Dellorto SHA 14.12 carb

#70 jet

Poloni 75cc

.030 spark plug gap

High flow air filter

I just finished putting my motor back on my bike and it won't start. It has lots of compression. The pedals are very hard to turn. It puffs and sucks but won't start up.

I need help..

thanks.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

fuel, spark, compression...those are needed to run...do you have these??

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

yeah it seems if I open the throttle a bit it pops like it wants to start..

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

this probably won't help...

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

hahhaa yeah not really, thanks though.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Perfekt Timing Angel /

Did you put the piston in up-side down? Arrow should point to exhaust.

If not, close the gap on that plug.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

just make sure you have spark... compression is sometimes a problem with these kits. too much compression.

try bump starting it or slap on a head and base gasket and try there. its also cold out... so break out your engine cozies

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

I'll try closing the spark gap.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

ok so I closed the gap a bit went back down to a #60 jet and it will start but if the rear wheel is on the ground it goes chop chop chop die...

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Ok so it will not start up on the stand I have to get going and pedal like crazy then it eventually starts. It will knock at idle and then die.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

chop chop chop die? could you explain that a bit... more

points or cdi? regardless, check for issues there. if im understanding that chop chop chop correctly

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

dont pedal it until you have it tuned ... dont wanna kill your starter plate/leaf spring.

run with it and pull the clutch

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

it was knocking is the chop chop sound. I have points also.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

forgot to mention I have a high comp head.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

and yes it has a TON of compression.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

If you add compression and have to retard timing to prevent detonation.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

The retarded timing on higher compression engines has to do with the reduced distance from the spark plug to the piston crown.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

ok thank you I will try that out.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Check out the Wiki and maybe next time around place this thread in the repair or tuning forum.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

a #60-#70 jet is really small. With a pipe people are normally running around the mid 90s range, give or take.

With the stock pipe and with a high flow filter I would guess it is starving for more fuel. Try moving higher into the 70s to high 80s.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Don't you think the bike should at least run with a too small of jet?

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

No, not really. And if it did run it could potentially seize the piston in the cylinder and destroy it.

Proper jetting is the magic of tuning.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

What is with people buying Polini kits for their mopeds when they don't even understand jetting? Jesus.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Eoban, kids don't read they jump to conclusions expecting shit to work or things to be handed or done for them. Common sense has disappeared along with patience. I don't see simple mechanical skills and the newest generation of techie kids working well together.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

you know what "Eoban" Fuck you. If you're so smart when it comes to this thing why don't you offer some help instead of acting like you know everything and offering nothing but some childish insult. If you can't help then just shut up.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

YES. i was waiting for that to happen.

opel, you have to have a thick skin to be here. you have to give a chance for all the very experienced guys to make fun of you first and call you fckface, and then they'll help you. and then, someday, you can call other people fckface in return.

actually, no one even called you f*ckface yet. you got off easy.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

To those of you offer your help it is greatly appreciated. I am leaving it for tonight so that I don't make the situation worse. As far as jumping to conclusions. I think you are the one jumping to conclusions that I'm just some kid. May be young and new to 2 stroke engines but I probably have more mechanical skill in other areas in my pinky finger that you do in your tiny judgmental brain. If your so full of expertise you should spend your time helping than sitting behind your keyboard acting like your some kind of tough guy.

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Aron, ironically, you also are acting like a tough guy. Just let it go.

You need to gather more data, and the solution will present itself.

Verify

Piston orientation (arrow down)

Spark. Hold the plug on the cylinder and try to start the motor, does it spark? Check your timing, make sure your point gap is correct (see the wiki)

Fuel in the tank with a good flow from the hose

Fuel in the bowl of the carburetor

Is the head installed with the head gasket and evenly tightened down?

Is the base gasket still intact? How are your case seals?

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Aron, the resources are in front you on this site. Sniff around, send out some emails and you'll be alright. Ed, orangerobin, and many others are great with the V1. I can't stress enough how amazing the wiki can be as well as previous threads. I search a lot around here for my answers and avoid the commotion of creating threads. Your pinky finger must be massive to hold down my A&P, Lycoming, Honeywell, Rolls Royce certs. If you need anything in the future email me!

Re: Poloni 75cc problem

Ha! Its mopeds. You'll figure out

At least you got the best kind. Super tough. Real easy to get into.

Don't worry bout dummies being butt holes.
