What else?

I have a Yankee Peddler with a Minarelli engine. I'm putting the 80cc polini kit, a blaster banana exhaust, and a 19mm phbg on it. I'm also getting a new crank, a cdi, a condenser, and possibly a new stock clutch? I was wondering if there's anything else I should replace on it before I kit it and all? Thanks!

Re: What else?

Bearings and seals.

Re: What else?

definitely dude, crack those cases and dress it up with some fresh bearings and seals.

Re: What else?

A complete mod rebuild, you will find things I'm sure.

Re: What else?

ya i had figured i would need the seals for sure. i'm obviously fairly new to kitting and will be doing this with some more well traveled friends, but i might as well ask the questions i need to regardless of how ignorant it may make me seem because that's the only way i will learn. What should I order for my bearings and seals. just one minarelli crankshaft bearing and one minarelli seal? i'm putting my noob status out there right now and am not looking for some cocky you're an idiot you probly don't even know how to premix response

Just saying.

Re: What else?

not sure you'd even need a crank..most minarellis have the needle bearing...at least thats my experience.

Re: What else?

hmmm not needing a new crank does sound real nice, it would save me a bit of cash, but i really want to know for sure haha

Re: What else?

If it was mine I'd put a new crank in just be 100% sure. It would suck to have the old one luck up while blasting just to pinch a penny.

Re: What else?

Keep in mind I haven't touched a V1, but 1977 sells a rebuild kit for the V1 that comes with 4 bearings and 4 seals. You might be able to get away with just changing the crank seals, but if your cases are already split you might as well go all the way and just replace all the bearings/seals.

I recommend that you tear your engine down, pull the old bearings and seals out and bring them to a bearing shop in the area. they will match you up with the correct size bearings and seals, and you will save money.

I like south shore bearing supply in quincy mass, cost me $27 for 4 bearings and 3 seals. they sell good quality bearings, better than the SKF ones that treats and 77 sells.

Re: What else?

the only thing is, to get to quincy mass would cost me a bit in gas :/ i will definitely check out the kit that 1977 has though. also mr umbrella, i was reading up on your mass racing stuff. will definitely be coming to check out the events, although i'm sure i wouldn't rank very high in speed. should be fun

Re: What else?

If you have a needle bearing crank..you wont need a new crank,,those things are bullet proof till you start really getting some major rotation...something you probably wont ever get to unless you're building a bike to race on a track.

Re: What else?

ya i'm looking for a fairly quick somewhat daily rider. maybe like 55 tops. how would i know if i have the needle bearing crank. does it vary on the v1's? it's on an fmb yankee peddler if that helps

Re: What else?
