MOPED ARMY

Well i know nothing about the ss50, but a while back i saw this page: http://beadec1.ea.bs.dlr.de/Airfoils/tpipedes.htm and decided to try and build my own tuned pipe. it works great. all you really need is some metal (a few pieces of steel tube, some sheet metal), an oxy-acetylene torch, and a tiny bit of welding knowledge (or if you have one you can use a mig or tig welder (i think stick would blow through too easy on the thin metal..)). go ahead and try it from that page, or if you like you can check your library to see if they have a book on two strokes by Gordon Blair. its got great stuff for pipe design.

Some nice info there, thanx... Only thing is, the SS50 is 4-stroke, which makes life more difficult. Perhaps I should have specified what I really want to know: staying within sound laws - the pigs are quite tough on 50cc doing 55pmh as it is over here - how much cutting etc. can I do to my current pipe? I might try on my own once I have the money/bravery, for now I'd appreciate advice tho'.

ooooooh..a 4-stroke..see i really dont know anything about hondas..ok well those tuned pipe designers will be useless for you if you have a 4-stroke. I dont know all that much about 4-stroke exhaust, but in general, the more flow, the better. i dont know what kindof exhaust you have, but from the pictures i just looked at of the ss50 in the photo section of this site, it doesnt look like you'll be able to do much (unless you wanna get much louder). The pictures show exhaust pipes which seem to be pretty much straigt pipes with a muffler at the end. if you didnt mind the sound, i might try doing some sort of a horn design (going from whatever the original pipe diameter is to 3 or 4 inches in a horn shape).
