Check Out My Woody Magnum

I have been working on this for a while. No where near done but it's at least rideable now.

The seat is hand carved pine. I am going to do something harder this winter but I had never done any woodwork before so I wanted something easy to work with. I did a pretty cool looking ergonomic shape to start with, which not surprisingly really hurt my ass so I had to add padding which I don't like the look out. When I rebuild the seat I plan on routering out a trough to put a piece of steel in as the mount and cover that with high density foam.

I am also going to paint (either Hunter Green or Cream) over the winter, add wooden gauges, light and inlays on the tank.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

Maybe this will work.. I am never any good at uploading photos on here.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

i like it! i feel like you should be wearing a jacket like this while riding it.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

I think it looks cool but I would paint it if it was mine. Get a custom seat pad made for it and hollow out the back and mount a tail light in it.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

Yeah, that is what I am doing. I have an industrial sewing machine and am actually a pretty handy upholsterer, there was just no way to not shittily pad the seat with the current shape.

Lights are definitely in order as I have no tail light at all right now, just haven't found the right one. I almost bought a cool 50's rocket sort of light at a flea market a couple of weeks ago but I thought it looked to retro, in a bad way.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

wood fender is cool.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

Man, I wish!

This is the jacket I usually ride in. The design on the back is an old submarine battle flag. I am working on a new one that says "stop fucking texting."

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

you should get that vinyl fake wood and run it alongside the tank in the sticker groove as a continuation of the seat. hmmmm maybe i should do this on my next build haha

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

Hmm. I am going to do real wood inlays this winter when I have the time but that is a great idea to hold me over. Done!

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

Hey Tigertree you are doing great !

The fender looks snazzy and very cool. I can't wait to see the finished seat and of course the read wood tank inlays.

Are you going to make a rear fender ?

The wood headlight and gauges will be a nice touch as well. Maybe you can make a wood fuel cap and cover the part that goes in the tank with plastic or plasti-dip coating.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

looks like a wiener through a skull

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

The bike is sweet, but after that wiener comment I totally lost it.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

i was thinking about adding some wood element(s) to my magnum, i was thinking about going a little steampunk- i sculpt and have a lot of brass hardware, etc. but i don't want to go crazy, just stay basic and sleek. maybe more industrial than steampunk.

on the other hand, it's a UPS and everyone is telling me to leave it alone. :/

brass would work on a UPS. Just dont eff up the paint job & keep it simple

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

that's what i was thinking. keep the gold stuff. the brown works too. thx.

Re: Check Out My Woody Magnum

ya gonna make some woody panels for it? Ya might need to whitewall it too. ahha
