Lone Rider

Shane Wolfe /

I am a lone rider. This area is so empty of ped riders, with the exception of an older guy that I see ride past the window here at work once in a while.

Hicks run rampant. I had one guy spit on me from the porch of his house. He'll pay...

I guess an army starts with a reason to fight.

I'm in the same boat. People just smile (or point and laugh) when I ride by. I suppose this should give me some kind of complex, but I really do get a kick out of it. I'm no spring chicken myself, but I hear comments like."Is old Eddy M. still riding his moped or does he have his drivers license back?" It would be nice if there was someone else to ride with here in the great white north, between Rochester and Syracuse, NY.

Re: Lone Rider

I live in hickville...but that's ok cuz i'm a hick too. I love ridin my ped around town....I've even began to think up reasons to go places now that I have a ped; whereas I used to just sit at home and watch tv. I get some flack from people, but I just tell them to meet me in a secluded parking lot sometime after dark and that usually takes care of that. Funny tho, my mom gives me more hell than anyone. She's on some kinda pride kick lately and it really pisses me off cuz we used to be dirt poor and humble as hell. Well, at least I'm still humble. She's gotta go outta town tomorrow and she asked me how I was gettin to church (yes, i lost my license)...I told her i'd take the ped...she was like, where ya gonna park it? I said, in a fuckin' parkin space....I spose she was wanting me to hide the fact that I ride a ped...Oh well, that's my two cents worth for the evening...Let's start a war !!!! Oh, who we fightin' anyways?

Re: Lone Rider

Who we fighten?

The oil companies.......every ped mile makes em bleed!

A Solar powered ped......choke-em off at the wallet!

Re: Lone Rider

C'mon Rob, a man has to have SOME power between his legs and solar don't cut it...yet. I crave power mainly cuz there's lots of steep hills here and I hate being passed by anyone in a 35 mph zone. I love my ped for what it is, but I can't wait to get the vette back out for sunday afternoon tire roastings...

Peace to all (except to those who drove extremely oversized suv's),

Re: Lone Rider

Hi,Lone Rider! I know that lonely feeling here in south central Ohio. There are hardly any mopeds to be seen, even though our laws are favorable (no helmet required,no title req.,etc.). I'm working on fixing that though if I have to get my whole family out on them. I own quite a few `peds but not all work at the moment. My experience down here has been all positive from the local people.Even the motorcycle riders give me the `thumbs up' ! I guess down here arrogance takes a back seat to civility. I make some pretty long trips a couple times a week, but sad to say, by myself. BYE!

Re: Lone Rider

awesome! don't lose faith lone riders. keep riding and soon you will have company. i've never known anyone who rode a moped at least once and didn't fall in love w/ them.

Re: Lone Rider
