There's a saying in the car community: "How fast are you willing to spend?" (or something like that) Its true for mopeds too, probably even more so since there are very few modifications that you can do to make your ped go faster for cheap. Although cheap is relative.

to make a puch (or any mope) run 40-50mph, you'll have to spend time and money (or at leats money).
you'll need a performance exhaust ($100 or so), a bigger carburetor ($60 or so), and perhaps even a 70cc speed kit (a few hundred $$). other than that, there's not much else to do. you can also add larger front sprockets, but that costs money.
sorry, but you will have to spend money. you can improve the performance of your moped in a variety of ways, but to reach 50mph, you'll have to drop some money.
