Moped Mufflers

Rob Hoehn /

I am a little confused about after-market moped mufflers. I have two batavus', a 78 Starflite and a 76 Va. Can any 'stock' muffler fit on any moped? I mean, are the sizes that the mufflers bolt on to pretty much the same? I suppose there are probably adapters, huh?

Re: Moped Mufflers

no, mufflers aren't universal. if you want an aftermarket performance muffler, you'll have to buy one specially made just for your bike. don't get biturbo, though. i've heard bad things about them. get polini! they make mufflers for just about every bike out there.

Re: Moped Mufflers

the mufflers on your mopeds might be interchangeable, if both of your batavus have the same engine. but different engines (e.g. minarelli, motobecane, garelli, etc.) have different exhaust systems and ports altogether.

Re: Moped Mufflers

Where can i get a hold of these Polini people? Think they make a pipe for a PA50??

Re: Moped Mufflers

check their website. also check another thread on the same subject. it has some contact information.

Polini Motori

You'll have to find a US distributor, though, as there is no email address on the site.

They do have Honda listed as the brand, but i don't see PA-50, was it called something else in Europe?

Re: Moped Mufflers

they don't list by moped, but by engine. so whatever engine you have on their, check to see if polini makes a pipe for it.
